Yeah that is why some don't trust the county board to get him in.

But...

1.McEntee is interested in the job 100 %
2.According to the Examiner he has been approached
3.Apparently most of the panel want McEntee.

If logic prevails with the County board, if Andy Mc wants it he should get it. Gerry is retiring so he potentially would be selector and perhaps one of Moyles/Fay/Callaghan/Giles. Thats the ticket that should be happening and the board should be pushing for. None of this O Rourke nonsense anymore please as i have no idea what he has every done in mgm. There are no other credible candidates out there within the county and i firmly believe going outside the county should be a last resort, the only exception i would make here would be Malachy O Rourke if he steps down from Monaghan.

As for player there are very few to add to the current panel but players who have taken breaks should be considered. There are currently development squads in play so everyone has been given a chance.

Finally we need to make this move quick, give him a relatively good budget which is vital and appoint someone full time into a commercial capacity onto the board. There is loads of money out there but we dont have the business acumen to tap into this.

People mention getting a good budget, but I saw this tweeted by Kirean Collins, who does a lot of research into GAA performance:

"#GAA managers please realise high performance is not about budget! It is about maximising every available resource #trainsmart"

Of course some details beyond the length of a tweet would be nice, but it's still an interesting view, and probably one with some substance. Can Meath say that they maximised every available resource over the past 3 seasons? I don't think so.

Just a comment on Malachy O'rourke he has done a great job with Monaghan no question on that. But they seem to stall when it comes to the championship and exit with a whimper. Some poor losses to Tyrone and this year to Longford was very disappointing for them. I am not sure I would be entirely happy with Malachy O'rourke.

Owing to the fact there was already an parting of ways between CB @ MC E , surely they won't pick him just because the populas want him , there will always be a fear that it could happen again and bring more of a headache upon them and the county - just can't see it been as clear as people think it is

In 2020 when the latest messiah resigns after a qualifier defeat to another Ulster team what will be our excuse?

Wont happen, cause for one mod was appointed for all the wrong reasons, and none of them were to do with his capabilities for the job, that is why this time it must be different, and in 2020 we will not have this problem.

Rathoath Royal, I've just heard about him from numerous sources watched him on a few occasions in big games clean house. I think he's impressive in the roles he can play. Same with Landy from Pats a lad who can be as good as anyone on his day. Watched Conor Downey and Forde in Trim in May..Forde went off injured 10 into the second half but brought NOM back into game when 10 points down. Downey is second half reason Na Fianna get the draw. Watch club football and see there is plenty of quality amongst the rank's just get them all involved.

Just a quick reply inrelation to Landy from the Pats , he is a good player but question marks lie over his dedication to the game ie training etc , but I have it from a good source within St pats , but there is no doubting his ability. As we all know it's the first box to be ticked if you wish to be a inter county footballer, along with constancy. Would like to think he' d be given a chance but in all fairness MOD didn't fail in giving lads a chance.

Yeah I haven't seen him play in a while, but he doesn't score as much as he should. If he isn't as dedicated to training etc at club level, what would he be like at county level?...
