I never said Keoghan was as good as GG. But Keoghan to me is very comfortable going forward. Unlike others who look to kick it side ways or back. It would be great if Menton, Mc Gill and Gillespie Flanagan and others came back, I love to Keoghan as third midfielder type free role, Or maybe a more forward role. Or maybe we could just clone him.

You get the feeling Gillespie needs to get back playing club football at some stage this season. Not looking great.Yeah Menton a big loss, not too sure about Flanagan although still very young..

Yeah I think we may forget about Gillispie next year, no point rushing him back even though he is badly needed but I don't think it's worth the risk unless he's playing 70 minutes for Summerhill before the end of the championship. Wasn't Flanagan with the county team this year? Nearly sure I seen him on the pitch in Parnell Park in a tracksuit with some of the other injured players so he should be ok for next year.

I know MOD dug his on grave but he was very unlucky with injures. Mc Gill this championship was huge lose it tied up Keoghan to full back line and meant he could really go forward as much as he would have liked I reckon. Others Kevin Reilly, Gillispie, O'Rourke Killian O'sullivan, Flanagan Wallace all serious injures, D Tobin (for a time), Mc Gill and McEntee. Are the ones I can think of.

Yes but that needs to change.I don't think you can be unlucky with injuries for that long.

Talking about Keoghan here lads like hes one of the greats, now im sure hes a nice lad but hes simply the best of a terrible lot, i see one post here talking about him in a 3rd midfielder free role and also gero mentioned now lads stop it, hes the best of a bad lot an thats it, we've had better footballers than this that will never be talked about cause they were on good teams. Again no offence to Donal at all, this is just a fact

We won't know how good the players are until we get a proper management team and see a change in attitude.

I agree there is a lot of truth in that statement. Looking at club football in the county...not many options for players who have not been tried. Looks like we will be several players short anyway, but we live in hope of few players emerging from somewhere. It can be surprising how the right new man with a fresh approach can even lift players even at club level, and motivate them to WANT to play for the county.

I agree with you in one sense on that but it will simply be a fresh'n up, a change always brings that but we have such a big problem in the county at the minute, we have 16 to 20 year olds who dont want to even go an watch our county team dont care how they get on,, look in to your own clubs and ask them that age group will tell u the same iv often heard lads sayin prior to a qualifier game " i hope there bet" "least we can get back to the club championship "

For what? For him to lie that we in better situation than when he took over? for him to lie that we are a super fit young team?, for him to lie that it was all the fault injuries and nothing to do with his own shortcomings?
Jesus wept, I woke up this morning annoyed that we not in Leinster final, but worse still that we completely out of championship, then I thought to myself well at least we are one week over mods most disappointing tenure.
Its over lets move on, I dont want to hear what he has to say , he is irrelevant to going forward like he was when he was in charge.
Rant over

In fairness to MOD he does make some good and interesting points and has held his hand up to a degree..

A good indicator, of how Serious the Co. Committee are about the Meath Senior team in 2017 and onwards, will be IF POLITICS Are a FACTOR in the appointment of the Next MEATH manager,
What practical support and resources are provided to the team will also give an indication.
If the will is there at the appropriate level, the appointment process could be completed before early September.
There is no time to lose in changing mindsets and looking to the future. The silence and perceived lack of action (with the Senior team) by the 'Steering Committee' is disappointing.
Lets make whinging, excuses and a poor mouth attitude unacceptable and merely a symptom of a mediocre era.

P.S.Btw imho the standard of reporting & Meath GAA coverage needs to improve- more accuracy needed, less cliches and oul plamas. They should tell it more like it is and with less bias. !!!

I see Moyles looks like he wants the Meath job, I would like to see him involved with the Meath set up but. But he needs to prove is worth I dont think he can get the job, unless he had some manger experience first. I am not aware he has any. Way to risky for me and another shot in the dark. I would to see him as a selector tough.
