Yeah I was watching Ros v Galway last Sunday. And it was very rare it at all that Roscommon kicked the ball. Maybe not 50/50 but someone with a bit of steel that can win the ball under pressure and take a score. Some we have been very badly missing the past ten years.

'In my opinion the backs have been better overall this year and midfield has mostly held its own'. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 14/07/2016 20:13:43 1883445 Link 3 |
Fair point but I was talking about the year overall.

I posted yesterday but it was flagged for whatever reason but I think Douglas would be a better forward than a back and should be considered as a half forward or full forward.. He is well able to win his on ball, has good pace and is very strong in possession. He is very attack minded and can take very tough scores under pressure. Think it should definitely be looked at as we are not really short of players that can play half back now. Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 630 - 15/07/2016 10:17:52 1883678 Link 0 |
Yeah, I dont know enough about Douglas, to agree or disagree. But some creative thinking is required from the next manager. To find some decent consistent forwards. GG started life as a half back. kegohan in the forwards ? There I said it GG was similar player to keoghan loved going forward when he played in the backs. If we could spare in backs its very unlikely.

Your comment from yesterday is still there, I replied to it. Hopefully the new manager will get in early and get a chance to see players playing in a variety of positions for their clubs in meaningful games.

I want to know what's the delay? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 15/07/2016 13:18:28 1883805 Link 1 |
I'd imagine the manager to be would have a fair interest in Meath football so would already know the majority of players that would make up his/her panel..... mawmouther (Meath) - Posts: 109 - 15/07/2016 13:19:54 1883809 Link 0 |

I wish Jinxie... :) Lets hope the county board do the right thing here.It is a chance for them to redeem themselves.Do they want to cut themselves off more from people? ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 15/07/2016 17:42:34 1883989 Link 1 |

GG played and attacking half back role for awhile. Keoghan is similar as in attacking corner back Or just very good going forward in general.

No I'm saying Keoghan isn't good going forward, but I don't think he is in the same league going forward or in an attacking role like Geraghty.Keoghan is also our best defender.
