Replying To royaldunne:  "A 50/50 ball is very rare these days, someone told me in one of the games that we be it in passes or kick outs gave 20+ 50/50 balls opposition gave 2 from general play, and I cant recall how many from kick out but it was less than ours , so by all accounts the 50/50 ball is a thing of the past, and retaining possession is paramount, the logic is simple, if you have the ball , they cant score, hitting in 50/50 balls is 1980s football, what we need to coach is possession plans and proper execution of well worked drills."
Yeah I was watching Ros v Galway last Sunday. And it was very rare it at all that Roscommon kicked the ball. Maybe not 50/50 but someone with a bit of steel that can win the ball under pressure and take a score. Some we have been very badly missing the past ten years.

'In my opinion the backs have been better overall this year and midfield has mostly held its own'.

If you were watching the second half last Saturday you may change that statement.

I posted yesterday but it was flagged for whatever reason but I think Douglas would be a better forward than a back and should be considered as a half forward or full forward.. He is well able to win his on ball, has good pace and is very strong in possession. He is very attack minded and can take very tough scores under pressure. Think it should definitely be looked at as we are not really short of players that can play half back now.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, I dont know enough about Douglas, to agree or disagree. But some creative thinking is required from the next manager. To find some decent consistent forwards. GG started life as a half back. kegohan in the forwards ? There I said it GG was similar player to keoghan loved going forward when he played in the backs. If we could spare in backs its very unlikely.

Your comment from yesterday is still there, I replied to it. Hopefully the new manager will get in early and get a chance to see players playing in a variety of positions for their clubs in meaningful games.

I want to know what's the delay?
Regardless of CB dislike of a candidate, even they must realise there is only one stand out candidate, he has not come out and ruled himself out, despite numerous people mentioning him, so obviously is interested in job, the dressing room seem to be of opinion he is the man, the supporters ar 100% behind him, so really what is the delay.
I hope negotiations are ongoing behind the scenes, even a player from his club has said he is best man for the job. Lets get this over and done with asap

I'd imagine the manager to be would have a fair interest in Meath football so would already know the majority of players that would make up his/her panel.....

Actually, more to the point, have you any influence.....

Lets hope the county board do the right thing here.It is a chance for them to redeem themselves.Do they want to cut themselves off more from people?

GG played and attacking half back role for awhile. Keoghan is similar as in attacking corner back Or just very good going forward in general.

No I'm saying Keoghan isn't good going forward, but I don't think he is in the same league going forward or in an attacking role like Geraghty.Keoghan is also our best defender.
