Taken from an article in todays indo: one of the country's leading orthopaedic surgeons talking about injury to young players
Meath full back Kevin Reilly was just 29 when he retired from inter-county football last October. He said chronic hip injury forced him to stop playing for the county and that he will need a hip replacement within five to 10 years.
He also sustained other injuries while playing at the highest level.
"Three surgeries, my back, hip and Achilles tendon, bulging discs, frequent hamstring, quad and hip flexor tears, broken arm, foot, nose, fingers and vertebrae, chronic tendonitis and cartilage damage in knees, shoulders and Achilles tendons have all taken their toll on my body," he said at the time.

talk about putting your body on the line!

Yes some people here definitely said he was making the injuries up, Fond of the Physio table was one comment, Then as I have said on here before These people commenting are probably not even members of their local club's,
As for all the comments about how Banty left the county. He was brought in because of the state of the team. It amazes me how they forget that we were well beaten by Cavan under Boylan and Hammered by The might of Limerick under Coyle. While Banty didn't achieve anything it's certainly not his fault where we are now.

In fairness Coyle did lead us to an All-Ireland semi, but yeah that day in Limerick is the worst display I have seen from us in championship.

Definitely not Bantys fault ...Mod talked about when he took over from Banty the team was mentally and physically in a terrible shape and he had to fix the problem..How did he fixed the problem of the players he inherited from Banty ? By showing ¾ of the team the door ! Thats how he went about fixing that problem ! Anybody could have done that because it was the easy option !

I never blamed Colm Coyle for limerick or the Wexford game..if anybody ever watched the wexford v meath game again that day with a clear mind, you will see frees awarded of the softest of softest variety,Now the referee naturally thought the game was long over so nature of the beast was meath are 10 points up "what am i doing wrong ?" Then the limerick game Colm Coyle traveled down to limerick with bus load of flogged sheep from the Wexford game !
