Meath v Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

While McDonagh doesn't do a lot scoring wise, he definitely is strong and well able of winning clean ball, something which McMahon may struggle with. We'll see if it pays off. I can't see starting McDonagh or McMahon being the difference between winning or losing. We ain't winning either way.

Well men.

On Sunday we'll see what a sham this Dublin setup is.

Men again boys.

Ok guys no messing now!

Does anyone seriously think Meath could win Sunday?

Honestly if you asked me earlier in the year I would have said yes.... I thought we were building nicely.

But Galway killed my confidence completely.

We could win, but sadly I don't think we will.

I've still backed Meath and hope mod and the lads put the dubs back in their box

Btw...that post above is the drink talking!

I just don't know what to expect from Meath. If we play to our potential we could run them close. But in saying that, I don't know what our best is! Like I said a week or so ago, we haven't seen a full 70 minute championship performance from this group. If we can produce that, who knows? I will always try to be positive.

I would agree with Ratoath Royal regarding McDonagh. Every time we have played Dublin in recent years I would be quietly confident of winning but this year I don't think we have a chance. Hopefully I'm proved wrong though.

If you go on form alone for the past few years for both teams then we are hammered again. Logic clearly states Dublin are probably in the top 3 best teams of all time. Meath have been at a very low standard even outside the top 16 at times in the last few years. So can i take license or give a politicians answer to can we "win"? or waffle it. Because so much frustration and annoyance has built up in this very long time supporter,a "win" for me will mean that i can see 1. From the throw every player gives it everything. 2 That it is clear all concerned believe that the team playing to full potential who knows? 3 It has to be obvious fitness is not an issue mentally or physically. 4 It has to be clear that we have learned from mistakes . ETC. I am bringing the heart tablets in case Cluxton is allowed win with most kickouts AGAIN. In case Dublin are allowed attack repeatedy straight though the middle as is so predictable. In case our response time is sooo long to matters of play..e.g. breaking ball etc.and management not responding to play patterns by making prompt adjustments..... I just realised this is an awfull lot of HOPING In summary Meath now seen to be giving it everything for the whole match ,and see where that brings us, that will do for now ! Who knows ? I am old enough to remember Devon Lough ALMOST past the post to win the National.Look what happened He WAS winning but collapsed with 50 yards to go There are no ABSOLUTE certainties in sport!

I think there is only a very small glimmer of beat Dublin. We need to take every chance and we lots luck and we need alot of decision's from the ref, we are not going to get. Dublin will try an bully us of the ball with there physicality we have stand up to this and stay in the game up until half time at least. My hearth says Meath head says Dublin. I would love to see Meath in the game until the end and dubs sweating in the last ten minutes :)

On the flip side.If we let Dublin play ball, and run at us down the middle(even Louth did this late on and nobody tracked back from the forward line),and are not very organized, lacking belief and confidence we could see a 20 point+ defeat. We have seen constant mistake from MOD,so this is a huge game for him.

I see the odds have halved for Dublin 1/50 to 1/25.

Keep the faith Ziggy, I think deep down I think every Meath man thinks there is a chance of winning on Sunday however small it is.

Oh agreed Ziggy ! If it still happens like you described there it would indeed me be a major milestone for MOD. I guess it would be his second last game in charge.. These things have been highlighted so often now, that i think if things are no better he will resign. He will have the clear knowledge that he did his best. No man can be expected to do better than his best.

As we get closer if you really think about it,IF we someone won tomorrow it would be out of the blue.We have seen no evidence that Meath could seriously trouble Dublin tomorrow.
