Meath vs Antrim - Christy Ring Final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Replying To Jack L:  "The CCCC should find a suitable date in the GAA calendar and go with it. Makes sense to play it this weekend, after all this is when replays are scheduled, a week after the draw if possible.

The delay will only impact the local championships (Antrim's as well, remember there are two teams here) There was a reason why the three hurling championships were scheduled to be completed last weekend barring draws. You can bet your last dollar, if any of the other two matches had finished level last Saturday AET, the replay would be scheduled for this weekend."
The fairest thing to do, as ive said in a few posts on different topics, is find out how players feel about the whole thing. Someone put a post up on the Antrim ''pointgate'' forum that these lads aren't paid professionals and they play to represent their club and county and their dead right!

I think every lad should try his hardest to get to croker for the match.. It might be different size ball but the jersey and the crest are the same... These lads are capable of beating Antrim but they will need the support.. Id be surprised if most people don't know one or two of the lads involved in some form or another so give them your support and help them win Two All Irelands in One year ;P

For that brief period when we thought we'd won I felt pride in Meath GAA i hadn't in many years.
The atmosphere in the Hogan was unbelievable for such a small crowd and singing COYBIG again was terrific.
At the time i remember thinking how much people had missed out by not coming.
Dont risk missing out lads, come to the game.

Well said, I hear the lads are back in serious training this week and a few of them have selflessly cancelled a number of previous arrangements for holidays and travel abroad to make themselves fully available for this fixture. That's some serious commitment to the jersey and to hurling and the GAA in this county when you remember the GAA themselves didn't consider the situation worthy enough of their time to give up their bank holiday weekend to come up with a solution to sort out this fiasco.
The very least we could is get behind them in huge numbers to support them in Croke Park, who knows maybe Club Na Mhi will arrange a bus this time?
Antrim will already be there in strength as their footballers are playing there on the same day, we need to make sure they don't get the advantage of the 16th man.

Reminded me of the Meath footballers of old. Please god its a sign of things to come. I will definitely be in Croke Park on the 25th June. I'll also be in Parnell park this Sunday. COYBIG

"Give the Dubs a game" horse before the cart.

Nothing like Louth fans to actively search for something to get offended about, find nothing, but get offended anyway.

I'm looking forward to this game. I'm gonna bring my 4 and 6 year old kids to their 1st Meath match. Was going to bring them to Parnell Park but thought it would be too cramped for them and they'd see nothing. Never thought their 1st Meath match would be a hurling final. Funny how things turn out! Hon the Royal!

Really looking forward to this game
I know croke park only opens the lower tier hogan but after all that has happened it is up to us as a county to show our support to this bunch of players
We should out number antrim 5 or 6 to 1
And be heard.just like previous day
Was talking to a player and he mentioned that the energy and vibe that came from the stand the last day really drove them on
Lets get behind the lads
Wouldn't it be great to say that we compete at both codes in championship

All roads should lead to Croke Park for the 25th & 26th June - fair play if we can all do both and maybe we might come out of it with two wins. Come on the ROYALS - Best of luck to both teams. To the club players that did not get there HC off to a start last weekend it is hard on the club and that is what drives me mad - The club looses out - for now we will keep rocking and try to keep everyone going

Can Meath really get up for this game and play as well/better than the last day?

Don't see any reason Meath cannot improve on last outing, first 25 minutes last day passed us by, upped game in last ten minutes of first half and this gave them belief to push on in second half. But would also expect Antrim to improve so hopefully we are in for a cracker

I think so Ziggy. For one the experience the antrim players had over some of the lads that had not played croker before is now gone.. They should be able to get going from the start unlike the last day where they took 20 mins to wake up.. I would like to think that they would have taken on board how antrim go about their puck outs and set plays..

that said Antrim will probably have picked up a lot of our weakness' too(don't give JToher too many frees).

All in all I think we have some very good forwards who can really hurt them if they get good ball into them.. The difference in class though for me is the antrim players ability to take scores from well out the field during open play.. At this level if your given 5 yards anywhere around the middle of the park they should be looking at an easy point.. I think we are fairly limited in this area.

Ya I noticed that, generally Antrim scored the classier points in the first game..
