Meath hurlers away in Christy Ring semi-final

(Oldest Posts First)

Can anybody tell me why our hurlers are away in the Ring semi final ?
Antrim at home !
Is it not supposed to be the teams that reach the semi final first have home semi finals ?
It was last year and the year before , I checked this out .
And the matched switched to Sunday , why is this ?

It's a funny one alright, Kildare had a home semi final vs. Kerry last year too despite Kerry winning their first 2 matches.

I'd say it was changed to avoid clashing with Kildare's football match on the saturday vs. Wexford, we played London on the Sunday too.

Funnily enough it doesn't say anything about venues for the semi final in the rule book. I don't think it's some sort of conspiracy against Meath, just luck of the draw unfortunately. As mentioned above, Kildare got lucky last year too (not that it did them much good!).

Rumor has it meath county board never went to fixture meeting in which meath had home advantage but since they didn't send anyone they lost home advantage

I heard from a county panelist it was just an open draw, no conspiracies.

lets not be silly here talking about no representative at fixtures meeting and that is why Meath lost home advantage, dont think the GAA operate like that, lets all get to Newbridge and help them get to Croker

Well said stick fan just an unlucky draw. Kildare always bring a crowd to trim so hopefully we will do the same to Newbridge.

All winners to semi which were meath and antrim had home advantage as any of the semi since it began. If I'm wrong let me know. Meath county board had no one at fixture meeting in croke park

Awful pity the game isnt in Trim. Far superior surface to Newbridge and good big changing rooms, Trim would also suit kildare folk coming from the likes of maynooth celbridge lexilip

Well lads, how do ye see this going? Think we will do it, but if Nicky horan is on form from the frees we could be in trouble. Where is the best spot to park in Navan?

I really do think that the hurlers this year have upped a gear, tight game, but i think we'll win by a couple of points after extra time.

I think so too dickie.. As far as I know Kildare wanted the game in Trim, had two convincing wins against us there last year. Strange it was brought to Newbridge.

I also think Down could take Antrim in the other semi. No love lost between those two counties and games between them are always close.

Yarnsy rumor has it Nicky pulled a hamstring and won't be available. Surely Kildare will canter home with him not playing. See ye in Navan..
