Read this article. Well written ,and on the ball as you would expect from 1 of the 3 wise men. I wonder is he referring exclusively to Meath.? Some of the points raised like players walking away etc. I also wondered about his point regarding paid employees ?,training session costs etc?.. IN fact i am just wondering if Colm is or would ask these chalenging questions in Meath. In fact i would love to see Colm take the current situation in Meath by the scruff of the neck. Maybe i am misreading his comments, or i am very asking too much of Colm. He of all people HAS done an awful lot as a player for Meath. Any chance he might do a Colm o Rourke on our county board now. Ah go on ,go on Colm. Ignore any politics! nobull456 (Meath) - Posts: 1228 - 09/05/2016 14:46:21 1853299 Link 0 |

€3000 to €5000 per training session..... Crazy if true and unsustainable. AnFearBan1234 (Meath) - Posts: 110 - 09/05/2016 16:09:55 1853336 Link 0 |
Yeah that stood out for me,that couldn't be right in most counties surely?? ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 09/05/2016 16:13:34 1853340 Link 1 |
What about the Co squad squad players, the players numbered 20 to 30 in the panel who basically get to play no football as unused subs with county but not released to play with clubs. AnFearBan1234 (Meath) - Posts: 110 - 09/05/2016 16:22:21 1853349 Link 0 |

yes a very good article ..but the 3 wise men thing is starting to get up my wee small tiny goat...who are they? Hustlers for pub quizzes? WhyTheLongFace (Meath) - Posts: 879 - 09/05/2016 19:54:44 1853418 Link 1 |
Also they clearly have little say in things.I would prefer those three on the board itself.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 09/05/2016 20:21:37 1853427 Link 1 |

As colm says club players are worse of than ten years ago. Is it now common in clubs for players to have to pay for there own physio? Sallywebster (Meath) - Posts: 7 - 10/05/2016 10:18:50 1853489 Link 0 |
On the three wise Men thing , I believe , from a reliable source that Colm O Rourke has stepped away from any involvement in the so called steering committee. So either he is a member or he is not . Can someone get clarification on this . Chaisleain_Abu (Meath) - Posts: 220 - 10/05/2016 13:09:31 1853592 Link 0 |
Did we not have a panel of learned and experienced men come up with some proposals to shake up the club scene but the clubs rejected it? CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1650 - 10/05/2016 14:55:56 1853644 Link 0 |
i agree here the county board even do not care for the club player also see fixtures for both codes with dual clubs that will surely burn out players srgt_slaughter (Meath) - Posts: 462 - 10/05/2016 15:01:26 1853648 Link 0 |
As i have stated before the players are first and foremost club players. The county te are being facilitated by the clubs in releasing them to help out the county. There is a 13 day rule where by players on the county panel can be ring fenced fir that period in the same code. Ie if the meath footballers are playing yhen they cannot play with their clubs within 13 days of the county match. Outside of this players should make themselves available to their clubs for matches. Some players are great clubmen who love playing for their club and others would rather the limelight of the green and gold Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1468 - 10/05/2016 15:50:31 1853676 Link 1 |

We all either play or played football for the games. Local soccer leagues appear to have a game week in week out... Why can't the GAA be as straightforward. Football this week, hurling the next.... The All-Ireland taking 5months to run off is ridiculous given the limited number of games. Should be able to run it off in 10-12 weeks.
