Louth would not play in navan under any circumstances numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 348 - 08/05/2016 11:47:50 1852931 Link 0 |
Firstly Louth have to beat Carlow for Parnell park to be the venue for Meaths championship opener. I would have preferred Navan myself even though we would be relinquishing neutrality. Poor or no parking around Parnell park and watch out for Gardai giving out tickets for parking on footpaths. As for Louth v Meath if it materialises Meath would obviously be favourites, not because they have much better footballers than Louth (although ratbag , one only has to stand on the northern shore of the Boyne to stand and admire in a jealous rage the ability, skill, power and pace that every Meath player is born with. It must be in your spuds) but because history is on your side and you are 1 division above us. It may not be this year, but one day Louth will beat Meath in the championsip again. ged (Louth) - Posts: 296 - 08/05/2016 11:59:56 1852937 Link 0 |
Of course biggy will start along with tormey at ff , Wallace also will start I think. Its the midfield I worry about. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 08/05/2016 12:15:21 1852940 Link 0 |
Meathgaa. Wouldn't go with O'Rourke (either of them) id have McHugh in goals and osullivan in hf line. Apart from that and Rooney. Our best 15. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 08/05/2016 12:18:46 1852941 Link 0 |
Southmeathgael Parnell Park has a capacity of 13,500. Navan only has a capacity of 10,000 due to health and safety. Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 08/05/2016 13:20:47 1852960 Link 1 |
Richieq that is good to hear. The health and safety is gone mad these days. In 2002 when Meath played Louth in Navan there was over 22,000 people at that match. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 08/05/2016 13:50:14 1852963 Link 0 |
We played Kildare there about 5 years ago and had about 20'000 there with a brilliant atmosphere. People were going mad it was limited to 20'000 and kept throwing up a figure of 30'000 for PT's capacity. No idea where that figure came from though, you'd need to cover every square meter of the grass banks and terrace with a dangerous number people to get that many in. I dont think either team welcome Parnell park as a venue, particularly the supporters, id have preferred Drogheda Than this venue, total kip of a place to get in or out of, plus last time I was there I got a rotten cup of tea and had to throw it away :). royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 08/05/2016 15:54:34 1853007 Link 0 |

Think it was a division 2 league game that the cup of tea was wasted on that fine, upstanding gentleman. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1362 - 09/05/2016 13:09:00 1853255 Link 1 |
southmeathgael i was watching the NFL Division 2!! Wallace hasn't featured due to injury and is only just back, mcmahon played against offaly and donegal and did quite well so thats where that is being based!! and with regards to Tormey, he will be a plan B at FF imo as Newman has been doing well there when he has played in that position. But like I said, it was only my opinion!! ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 557 - 09/05/2016 13:19:03 1853264 Link 0 |

Best option to partner Rooney? Cian O Brien/Ronan Jones/Tormey/Tobin ???? Meathgaa5 (Meath) - Posts: 339 - 09/05/2016 16:11:50 1853338 Link 0 |
