Are the U21's in action this Saturday?

Meath_True (Meath)- If you read the many posts you will realise that there are guys posting about players that they have not seen and other guys posting very positive about their own clubs players- nothing wrong with that, but then the post about players outside their own immediate clubs as not being good enough. Now young Rowe is a good young player but it may be early to put him into a senior squad. I thought he was corner forward on last year's u21 side and was one of the better forwards. Young players progress at different rates through their years and many who are outstanding at underage never make senior inter county standard. T

I personally don't look at players at that kind of level.Doesn't matter if they play for my club or not.

You are not missing much ziggy. Meath look good but Wicklow are very poor so it's hard to judge. 1-12 to 0-1 at half time

Again, you're right hard to judge against a county like Wicklow, still they can only play what's infront of them and do it right, by sounds of it they are going that.

I actually went in the end.No scoreboard on the back pitch at a guess was it 2-16 to 0-3? Was talking a bit in the last 10mins!

It finished 2-14 to 0-2 (according to the man standing next to me who was keeping the score, so don't blame me if its wrong!) Meath weren't great in the second half, although to be fair to them, Wicklow didn't drop their heads and kept battling to the end, so they didn't make life easy for us. We weren't as direct as we were in the first half, and lost a lot of ball by messing about with it rather than running at Wicklow like we did in the first half. The usual rash of substitutions didn't help of course, as we lost a lot of our fluency.
All in all a decent win against very average opposition. We were very sharp in the first half with a mixture of fast direct running, and some good long balls in to the forwards. Shame we couldn't keep that up for the whole game, but that's to be expected I suppose.

This is the team that was named:
1. Jonathan Lynch - Moynalty
2. James Reilly - Gaeil Colmcille
3. Jordan McLoughlin - Dunboyne
4. Eoin Green - Skryne
5. James Mooney - Meath Hill
6. Brian Conlan - Simonstown
7. Sean Reilly - Moylagh
8. Dan O'Neill - Wolfe Tones
9. Sean Noonan- Seneschalstown
10 Jason Scully - Oldcastle
11. Daire Campion - Skryne
17. Sean Meade - Nobber
13 Fionn Reilly - Gaeil Colmcille
14. David McLoughlin - Moynalvey
15 Conor Moriarty - Curraha

I am not sure though if that is 10% accurate though. I don't know the players, but judging from the names that the players were calling out, I'd say that the full back could have been Robin Clarke from Duleek/Bellewstown, with Jordan McLoughlin coming on as a sub at the start of the second half. Don't ask me the other subs - too many of them, and I don't know who was wearing what number.

Looks about right to me..

Yeah very impressive in the first half, dropped in the second, but just lost some focus and Wicklow never came into the game on the scoreboard. Meade was impressive in that first half I thought.

Meade looked very good alright. Good direct running with the ball and not afraid to take on his marker. Linked well with the inside forwards. I thought Conlan dominated the centre of defence, albeit against a very limited attack. Noonan had a good first half in midfield- some lovely long foot passes into the forwards, but he faded out of it completely in the second half. Campion just looks like a class act for someone so young. Fionn Reilly and Mcloughlin were livelyin the full-forward line and got some nice scores. It was hard to judge the defence, because they were put under very little pressure. I thought it was disappointing that after a first half of fast running at the defence and kicking some nice long range scores, in the second half we changed to over elaborate passing, and trying to walk the ball into the net.

Yeah I was close to Paddy Reynolds and he wasn't very happy in the second half at all.

Who was the other meath mentor on the supporters side of the pitch in the second half? Paddy was up at forwards, but there was another one down by the backs that I didn't recognise.
