Well done to the Meath minors, apparently did not play great today, but showed character to win it.

Well done to the lads, didn't look great at half time, not quite pure muck but not far off. Got their act together in the 2nd half. Not a chance of winning Leinster with a repeat performance of that type. There is much better in them and would expect them to improve.

Through to the next round and the experience of hard fought win behind them. Hopefully that will benefit the lads.

I was at the game and it was by no means a classic. The team seemed a little nervous at the start and got caught cold by a solo goal by the Laois wing back who seemed to coast through untouched. But in fairness the boys stuck at it and in my opinion they were the better team on the day. laois seemed a little bigger physically but he boys played better football. Both sides registered a number of wides but at the end it was all Meath. There was plenty of positives to take from the game - the full back line looked very good for example.

I have seen plenty of these lads play for their clubs and in challenge and league games for the county and I think they have another couple of gears to move through before we see them at their best.

Keep going lads!

Though one next against the Dubs, hopefully a home draw after we gave them home advantage in the U21

A tough draw alright - the two teams met in the Leinster League earlier in the year in Parnell Park - I think there was 5/6 points in it at the end but Dublin got off to a quick start and the lads were playing catch up for much of the game. espite all teh wotrk that Barry Callaghan and his team have done with teh squad, there is always the feling that Dublin because of their resources have prepared at a different level. But - there is a good bond amongst teh squad and they are training hard for this game. I just hope they get off to a good start as they were slow out of the blocks against Laois and against Dublin in the League - they are unlikely to get away with a slow start this time round!

I think we should all bear in mind that many of the Minors are about to sit leaving cert - lets get ebhind them and support them whether the game is home or away!

Considering Meath played the last round in Port Laoise, they should be home for this one.Odd thing is,Meath win in Laois, yet Laois have a better chance of making the semis imo.

The minors had a good run against Armagh last weekend. They played some nice football at times and most of the squad got a run. A couple of lads were injured and hopefully they will be back for the Dubs match.

Hopefully they will be well supported on Saturday week.

Royalblufill: Think you have to get to a provincial final to get a second chance via a quarter final, am open to correction on that.

Was just wondering did young Kieran Slavin from Meathhill ever get a chance at underage level in Meath. He played for the Patrician High school during their Rannafast cup win last year (U 16.5) winning a "Queens future all star" for his performances.
Now I know its Ulster football and all the rest, but I was reliably informed (from someone closely involved) that he, and indeed young McMahon from the same club, were county material.
Are they on any of the other development squads, if not they should be or Meath must be very strong at that age level
