Meath v Cavan

Wayno it will be 30 years before meath are possibly anywhere near Dublin if even by then. So take my advice and stop worrying about us. There won't be any more good matches between your dubs and your #1 enemy. Unless it's January in the obyrne cup.

Writing on the wall in first half -same as Westmeath-Cavan got through us too easily. As for wheels falling off wagon, this wagon has been without wheels for a long time

I agree with you,but how do we employ a manager after 3 years of no progress, clueless tactics, team not fit,he loses his two selectors, his term is up and we don't even give anyone a chance to compete for the job.We are not a top team, but we are capable of better with a better setup.

BTW were are all the Graham Reilly fan boys hiding? With Graham himself we instead of trying to lift the team, goes hiding and walks about the pitch.Another poor display from him when the going gets tough!

agree royal class listen i am not one bit surprised by this result we are no good that is the bottom line and the sooner people on here get it into their heads the better and just before people start attacking mod you could have any manager over us it would make no difference and i not a big fan of his but the simple fact is we dont have players good enough come on lads for god sake we are a top 20 team not top 8 lets face up to it and lower our expectations

We're a limited squad in terms of talent but at the very least a good manager can make you hard to beat which Meath are not, in saying that I really do question some of these players representing the county. So like 90% of this forum I offer no solutions.

yes ziggy i think laois will beat us in league this year i think cavan are a better team with better players and we prob on a par with westmeath that is the reality we our very poor with a poor manager but in my opinion our players are simply just not up to it were no good i really believe that

That was awful in the second half. We looked clueless for the most and that includes the first half. We don't look fit, I don't see any game plan and some of the players attitudes are not inspiring. Graham Reilly appears to be looking for frees every time he gets the ball which is disappointing as he has ability and does not need to be doing this. For some reason Newman was way to far out and his man was/is one of Cavans best players and caused us a lot of bother. I don't know where we're going (apart from possibly Div 3) and in reality I can't see what games we are going to get points in as we need to get 6 pts min to stay up.

The Craw

We good enough not to surrender good leads to Cavan,Westmeath and Laois(in which we have done),we could be at least harder to beat and fit enough for 70mins..

all you have to do is look how bad our club championship is the last 10 years when we were winning all irelands our club championship was very strong and very hard to win our senior championship now its very poor and it shows on our county team we are small light weak we just do not have players good enough to be in the top 10 in the country there just not there like they were in the 80s and 90s sorry if i am offending anyone on here but its just the way i feel and after today i am sorry to say i am sick paying money in to watch meath get beaten and beaten bad at that i dont think i will go to croke park if meath win their 1st round to see dublin beat us by 20 plus points and pay 25 or 30 euro to watch that i never thought i would say that in my life but i just cant keep going with the chance we might win and its not a cheap day out to maybe be beaten at half time

Lads what to we expect this has been coming for a decade now and little or nothing has been done to fix it. We all get angry with MOD for not picking this lad and that lad but is it really his fault? Is it his fault that we don't have the talent within the county? Is it his fault the our underage is so bad? No its not. This has been a failure of County boards no long term plans or funding for underage. Look at roscommon, tipp, Longford all put more effort and money into underage development and are now reaping the rewards. It's foolish to think we should be better just because we are meath. It's that very thinking that has us in this position. Complaining here about mod is pointless he's trying his best it's our county board and it's delegates fault our county teams are under achieving.

Well I do think that people are getting really fed up with the county. Its not all MOD's fault, but he is out of his depth. It was a crazy decision to ratify him, without any selectors too by the way.Alot of players were not happy with MOD coming for another year. But the way the county board etc generally conduct themselves in such matters is disgraceful. We have the tools to be a top tier county. We are not like Leitrim were it is very difficult to get to a decent level.
We are hearing talk talk talk for years, but does anyone on the county board really care were we are going?

Extremely disappointing is the nicest way describe what happened today. Everyone one from players first of all have then management have to take the blame for today for second half collapse. I taught there was signs that we where making small progress this year, how wrong was I.
Nine 9 lead wasted last year against Westmeath 7 point lead today at home as-well. MOD has once again proved that he cant manage, I don't mind losing I didn't mind losing last time out against Fermanagh when I could see players where trying and trying hard a lot of them. But the lack of effort day was there for all to see. I am not paying money in to watch that rubbish. MOD should really step aside at this stage, sad thing is there isn't an manger in the county that's wants the job. I can only see relegation at this stage.

I've been banging that drum on underage structures for a long time on here and have even emailed the County Board Chairman a couple of years ago but it fell on deaf ears. We'll never imorove at Senior level unless we fix the REAL problems in the county so while MOD doesnt look up to it the blame is not all his.

the craw1 quote: 'when we were winning all irelands our club championship was very strong and very hard to win our senior championship now its very poor '. How can you say the championship was very strong when we were winning All-Irelands? Fact - in most of that period one team won 4 in -arrow and went unbeaten in senior championship football for over 6 years -that does not say the championship was strong!! Ziggy - what are you taking? , think you need to get the prescription changed!!
