Ziggy , yes we hope to have him back within the next 2 or 3 weeks as he had surgery on a knee that was giving him problems all last year. Yes we would rate him highly here by the sea but i doubt if he will get much taller.Good tricky forward when on his day will be any backs nighmare.

Seemingly Central Council are to come back either today or tomorrow (Thurs/Fri) with a decision on whether this issue can be revisited in this calendar year. I would imagine they will give Meath CB the green light to do so.

Just a line on this amidst all the talk of Cavan game. It seems like the clubs who railed against the decision to bring in mass-relegation have hit a dead-end as Central Council have refused Meath County Board permission to revisit this issue in this calendar year. So it looks like the clubs - who voted for this it should be noted - will have to suck it up.

Belt what to you mean by spineless? Your clearly not involved with a club it will affect. Reducing championship teams won't make better players for meath. 7 junior a clubs where to be relegated, do you think meath managers are going to look at players playing junior b. Not a chance. A regional championship like kerry is the way to go to improve county players and ones on the fringes.

And people wonder why we are in such a mess, the clubs vote for something and then go back a few weeks later and vote against the very thing they voted for in the first place, maybe we should have another general election and the outcome will be completely different. It was set to be the most fiercely contested championship ever with every game meaning something, now its back to the old " win one game and we will stay up" mentality. This also has a knock on effect as the 4 x 4 team groups for 2017 is now not possible either

Liam Keane & co must be wondering why they bothered. The GAA in a nutshell, a lot of talk about change, but when push comes to shove, most want to retain the status quo.

Can anyone explain this to me though - I thought that once derogation was refused by Croke Park then that was the last avenue available. On what grounds (per the rule book) was the decision overturned?

I am from a Junior club that could have been affected but I can see the bigger picture. The changes would have reinvigorated the championship, it is stale and there is too much of a safety net for clubs who are floating along.

Meath manager aren't looking at Junior A for players either anyway - the standard isn't good enough. The likes of McEntee and Flanagan were picked from the County U-21s not from Junior championship performances.

I always believed that the proposed changes were too radical but certainly think that the changes should be introduced on a staggered basis over, say 2 or 3 years.

I wasn't there so cannot comment on all the arguments made but I recall Barney Allen saying a few weeks ago that Meath had the best structured championship in the country!
