I was very confident we would beat Armagh, and although I tipped us to win this game,I can't say I'm as confident!

Typical Meath defeat I'm afraid well used to that sort of defeat at this stage. We have no business been in dv1,lets just hope we stay in dv2 now.Forwards not scoring near enough from play for us.

Typical performance. The biggest surprise is people thought we'd win. This is a poor Meath team against a team that got to an all Ireland QF....and we are woeful away from home. It's about time people started adjusting expectations too suit....we are hopefully a mid table div 2 team so stop having dillusions of grandeur that were gonna do this or that. If this year was gonna be different that's a game that would have been won...simple as that

Very poor stuff, I can't say I'm surprised though, this is a very ordinary Meath team and we're used to these sort of results unfortunately, we've been seeing them since 2001.

Nothing learned. A loss to Cavan who are in good form putting it up to Tyrone and Derry would derail us and leave us fighting for survival in div. 2. Consistancy is not evident and is still missing after 4 years under MOD.

ZIggy are u suprised
At what stage does the county board call a halt to MOD and his continuing failings . I could not believe after watching the Armagh game last week that some of the people on this site were talking about promotion . Last week I witnessed two very poor teams and told that to anyone that asked me about the game . This Meath team has learned nothing over the winter and continued last week playing the same style of football that got them nowhere over the last couple of years unless Meath people are now happy winning the Obyrne cup . To score 6 points against Fermannagh is a disgrace and with games against Tyrone , Derry , Galway to come this result has put us under presure even at this early stage . How after getting anialated by Dublin in a Leinster final 2 years ago and whinging after it ,loosing to Westmeath in the most embarrassing fashion I've witnessed since I've started watching Meath in the 70s are we still looking at MOD in charge . I know that MOD is a very nice fella and has given huge time and dedication to Meath football but at what stage does his disastrous record in charge of Meath count for somthing . Will it take relegation to div 3 for the people at the top to wake up and smell the roses .

southmeathgael i agree 100 percent with you during the week i posted more or less wat you have just said nobody even replied to my comments because they were to busy talking about meath winning listen i would love it to be different because i remember the great days of the late 80s and through the 90s but posters on here are just going to have to live with how bad we are i accepted it a long time ago and i am not a fan of mod but its not all his fault we simply dont have players good enough bottom line is we are no good i think we will stay up in div 2 this year but just about

Another listless performance in the north. Fermanagh had far more energy to their game throughout, yet the result wasn't decided until those (four) soft late frees. We never really looked like winning though. Meath scored a few nice points (COS, Lenihan), just not enough of them. They really needed to score those missed second-half frees. Very heavy pitch, you could hardly bounce the ball. Ref crap, sending off harsh, but Fermanagh fully deserving of their victory.

Lads,
Was not at the game but listened to commentary on LMFM did not sound like a great performance but surely the sending off in the 23rd minute of Tormey had a big bearing on the outcome?

Seem to end up playing with 14 men a lot these days, is indiscipline one of our problems too?

Ya very depressed after today,I was hoping MOD would prove some of us wrong, but we have made no improvements in 4 years, what a waste of time.

The sad thing is supporters are giving the team too much respect as usual. Everything is rosy again after winning a pre season tournament and beating a poor Armagh side and then it's all doom and gloom again. It is time we see ourselves as other counties see us and that is average at best. As I have already mentioned in this thread there is no consistency under present management.

Watched Armagh on television last night and it was only then i seen how we got two points against them, terrible outfit that would do well to beat navan o mahonys never mind our county team,as i have been saying the last 18months,until meath county board get rid of MOD meath are going to go only one way and that is backways.

Greenwood ... it's funny but in the early stages of the match Fermanagh appeared to have a spare man where they needed one and that was even before the sending off. To be fair to the lads they did work hard (trying to defend higher up the pitch) after the sending off. Fermanagh are just better organised and know how to make their home advantage pay (with regards to the pitch). They attack in numbers and without having too many players ahead of the ball (inside).

You'd feel sorry for Keoghan and Harnan busting their........ To see one or two lads who look like they don't care

Meath fans over react with victory and over react with defeat. Fermanagh are tough to beat up there and they had not lost in their last 10 home games at Brewster. The pitch and the ref were bad. We were not very good. Was thinking if we could Nick a win with 14 men it would help build character.
It is early days - 3 weeks before Cavan at home which is a must win for us and a must win for them. I fancy Meath to beat them. Meath are not as good nor as bad as fans think. We are somewhere in between. Hopefully players Learn from playing a tough game like that and will stand to us in the summer

Pitch was in woeful nick and really wasn't good enough for a game of ball.
