Yeah Htaem that's it , that's why i am annoyed it was bloody nothing compared to what could have been written.

Afearbeg. I don't like text language myself but twitter only allows 140 characters so i have to condense it to get point across. Jimin you are correct.

Just wonder are the CB regretting the snap decision to give MOD another 2 years with John Evans now been available. If they had done it properly we would now be in the position of at least interviewing canidates, I think this is goinf to come back and bite them on the....

It's all well and good saying we can reserve judgement until he delivers something next year but realistically where will we be? Put it this way did the county board actually expect him to meet one of the big goals next year i.e win a leinster or get to a quarter final. They all rested on their laurels and 'winged' it.

Backing MOD and failing to declare the position open or even welcome a vote even though O'Dowd's 3 year term was up clearly shows the county board has something to benefit by retaining him. What exactly that benefit is I simply don't know but the cynic in me tells me it has little to do with the improvement of Meath football.

Again though I sincerely hope I'm wrong and I'll be glad to he wrong if MOD starts to deliver next year, but sadly I find that extremely hard to see.

Seeing as John Evans is available and as he's somewhat familiar with the Meath setup or lack therof, is he worth an approach?

I'd say Evans certainly would be worth an approach but would he be interested in going from manager to selector or trainer again, possibly not but no harm in asking him, he's certainly more tactically astute than MOD.

Ziggy

Of course GG is interested in the job, its his dream job, he wore the county colours for over 20 years and was inspirational in the All Irelands of 1990, 1993, 1996 and 1999 when he achieved his lifetime ambition of lifting the Sam Maguire. The man has devoted his life to the game for both club and county and nobody in this country wants the job of managing his own county more than Graham, he was a brilliant footballer but also very intelligent and clever as a player and I, like many loyal supporters would love to see him get the chance to instil the same pride and passion into this bunch of players as he displayed as a player

Graham Geraghty could well be a very good manager..he won two all stars as a back and a forward and can play nearly ever position on the field and the way football has gone nowadays its all about man management so his input in that department could well be top notch.

Now i do think Graham Geraghty would be suited working with Trevor Giles...it all about combinations and chemistry, the MOD and Giles just had a look of one playing good cop and the other player a even nicer cop look about it!

Royal rover well said.
I like ziggy wanted him 3 years ago, and indeed this year, he is doing all the coaching levels and has experience, i just hope by the time he gets the chance (and he will) that this pool of players are not so soft and deluded by the current management that it would take his highest achievement ever to turn them around. Players saying they so fit , and making progress when they clearly aren't.
I have tried to explain the other motives but it isn't been posted, but there so much talk about the real reason of reappointment it should not take you long to find out.

Haha
I have to laugh at all these posters saying they would like to see GG getting the job! I even saw some of the posts about what he as done like:
- Got to a quarter final of the Westmeath Championship....WOW
- Got to a quarter final of a Meath Championship....WOW!!

Even some posters saying he is a good man manager and good with the younger people!! How do you know?
Why did he not stay with these teams that he was managing and bring them to the next level?? Seems to have gone through quite a few clubs already in a short space of time!

If some of you got your wish and he was made manager 3 years ago...we would still be in the same position now, if not worse, and ye would all be looking for someone else again!!

All these young managers will all be the same as they will come with great enthusiasm, will want to get their teams fitter than every other team, play a system that's in fashion at the moment etc.... But at the end of the day they all are lacking the main vital ingredients! Experience, cuteness, and that tactical awareness!!
Bring in a very experienced manager, a manager who has won at the highest level! Someone like Jack O'Connor and bring people like GG in as a selector to learn from him! Or else just allow MOD to gain that experience now, just like Boylan had to do at the beginning of his career!

I agree regarding getting a very experienced proven manager in. I think I wrote that here previously. It really was the responsibility of the C.B. to look at the situation and try and identify a manager that could get the best out of the team. We can say what we want about getting the underage structures right and, of course, that is a priority. However, we MUST also try and get the best out of who we have.

Without that we will continue to stagnate, GAA will become less relevant and we will lose players and supporters to other sports and activities. The County Board are playing a very dangerous game here and we are in definite danger of becoming another Laois/ Offaly ref football with no disrespect to those counties.

Also, why are some people saying an outside manager is a no no. Anfearbain says above that no way will the county board go for an outside manager. Why? Is it that people disliked Banty so much. What about the likes of Joe Kernan, Pete McGrath, Jim McGuinness? I think we need a proven winner to take over the team.

At the very least, they should appoint Sean Boylan to work directly with MOD and guide him through, I would actually strongly consider making Sean a selector. After all he was a selector on the DCU team last year.

How do I know?

Because one of the young lads who was on the county team under Banty told me so.. he said he loves his honesty, there is no bullshit with him and he would run through a brick wall for him.Now to me thats a good starting point.

I have spoken to Graham myself on many occasions, and his honesty and manners are very good,he seems to understand what is needed at county level. How do you know he would not do a good job? Problem is there is an agenda against GG,and that includes many on the county board. The likes of GG and other potential candidates should have explored and given a chance to go for the job along with MOD,but that chance was not given.
