Brian..

Menton not available and Flanagan will be missing as he is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

As for Cillian O'Sullivan,I wonder if anyone knows anything about his progress?

Cian o Brien has been producing displays like he did last Sunday all year he has really come of age and micko will have to take a look at him and not just for mid field would be a great centre forward option also.

I thought that the no 6 for Ratoath and James Reilly from O Mahoneys (I think he might actually be ftom Navan) were 2 of the better performers on Sunday. I know Mesth are poor st the minute but surely playing a good game for you club does not warrant automatic selection for county

Had forgotten Flanagan's cruciate. Well maybe give Cian a chance so in the O'Byrne cup and see how he goes

I would not rule out Cian O Brien at all. Flanagan needs a big big season imo and Meath have to start winning mid field. None of this competing anymore as we are out of road there. We have no hope unless we can dominate midfield. You look over any era Meath played and the one constant was nearly always won midfield

A fit Gillespie and Rooney could well dominate midfield. The likes of Cian O'Brien(if he is up to it) would be a great option to come off the bench, would love a runner to come off the bench..

head4blackspot,
Ratoath and St Colmcilles have both better centre forwards than Cian o Brien. As an inter county midfielder his work rate would have to seriously improve.
HE is not dominant in the air either. Ronan Jones and Power away ahead for midfield in my book.
Ziggy,
A fit Rooney and Gillespie dominate midfield?
Against what opposition? Two good grafters but top tier performers??

I'd be very surprised if we see Gillespie back in a county jersey. Can't shake the injuries.

Well Rooney is only 21 and has hueg potential, give him a chance..

Gillespie is a top class midfielder we has been dominant in games and against Dublin too..

We will know in the coming year whether Gillespie can shake the injuries or not,if he can't we could be in real trouble. We have lost Stephen Bray,Bryan Menton already, all leaders really..

Very true Ziggy. Please god he's okay.

oldsam_newsam - There's a load of trial training/matches going on at the minute as far as I know. The panel as such is not back yet but they are looking at as many players as possible to bring in. Be an interesting panel for the O'Byrne cup I'd imagine.

Can anyone clarify the position with Bryan Menton - does he travel plans, is he expected to be available for the League or Championship in 2016 ?

Just to touch on Cian o Brien if he was to be brought onto the panel...there should be at least a 2 year development plan for any player who is brought on to the panel,no player is going to tick all the boxes at the start,if i was to go through hogan stand posts about conor gillespie at the very early stages of his Meath career what was said about the chap a lot of people would have ended his career at the bright old age of 21..players need to be developed at senior and club level,Clubs seem to be hell bent on giving a manger of the team a lot of money just to get them to a quarter final of a junior championship..for example if i was to win u12,u14,u16,u18,u21 at club level it does not guarantee that senior job is tailored made for me..clubs would rather get your man that won the senior championship with Mozambique rovers and get them to play a type of football that is alien to them that the the game they played all there life at underage that brought them success than give it to the chap who developed a successful underage teams at the club, plus i would have to agree with Analyst that if a player plays one good match for his club it does not warrant automatic selection for county!

Lads Cian o Brien has not just played one good match for his club
We are talking about a guy who has played county minor u21 and junior and who has steadily progressed at club level leading to the player he is today.
This is why the senior county manager has brought him in to panel he may or may not make it but at the moment he is flying and is one of the top midfielders in the county and definitely the most athletic , this can only be good for Meath football , so let's see what happens and stop knocking the guy before he even starts.

Cian O'Brien brought into the panel? Well we need alternatives in midfield and someone who can offer something different. Now he may not be up to it,but lets see.

Any news of anyone else brought into the panel?

Serious concern as it seems in the real world there is really no new players in the county as the names appearing here are not getting me too excited
