Players Who Were Not On The Meath Panel Last Year.

I don't know if I would play Graham there Ziggy..teams usually play a sweeper or 2 in that position you want Graham to play in,he would get completely squeezed and be ineffective, plus he would be pick up by a philly McMahon who would drag him around the pitch when he is ment to be following back..if you want him to play a free roll then he should play in the pocket on the counter..its the opposite of the pitch from turn over ball were there opposition have less bodies from moving forward when attacking... It's a bit like u8 football modern football every little fella follows the ball!

none really is the simple answer with the exception of 3/4 at best. There is an excellent panel there now at the moment and the key is about getting them to gell and play to a system of play. Some of the people suggest is crazy as they dont have the physical make up and franly would not get on some senior teams in the country

Ziggy I've not heard it but I would imagine Burke will step away too and that Power will be a good shout at 6 in the future (which I've said since Jan 14)
On scoring forwards, and players who can track back etc...
Dublin and Kerry are the prototype
Dublin have Andrews, Brogan and Kilkenny all getting 3-5 points a game, Rock, Connolly and Flynn chip in 1-3 scores and McManamon coming in with 1-2 scores. Kerry have O'Donoghue, Gooch, Geaney doing similar. And that's consistent from game to game.
Donegal have Murphy, McBrearty and McFadden, Monaghan have McManus (probably the best forward in the country). They all consistently get 60% of their teams scores.
Meath do not have a player like that. Some days Graham will get 6-7 scores and nothing the next day. Newman might do it another and Tormey another but there's no player who's consistent with 3-4 scores a game. Now a lot of that is down to MOD and his chopping and changing but that's what we need from our forwards.

If Kerry and Dublin are just prototypes, I'd love to see what the finished product is!

Thelutch I didn't hear that Bryan Power was taking a year out, but Bryan Menton definitely is.

Conor Downey and Dan queeney will have to be called up
another appearance from both in team of the week this week]
That's 3 times they've made it, alongside Donal Lenihan's 3rd appearance
Darragh Smyth (3 time on the team) and Dalton McDonagh (although been there and not cut it) have been in it two weeks in a row!!!

Junior and senior finals to go so give you a final round up after that ;)

Ya Mento is taking a year out a huge loss to the Meath team,he is one of our new leaders,so next year we will have less experience imo.

Was impressed with Darragh Smyth over the weekend, but haven't enough of him recently to give a proper judgement.I see Ronan Jones is on team of the week, but I thought he didn't play that well on sunday.

Maybe just a poor week for midfielders. If Cian O Brien was the stand out, would have to worry.
Power and Bobby o Brien came out with more hard ball than Cian. He contributed well from open play.
But if he is going to make it for Meath his all round game needs serious improvement. One swallow does not make a summer.

i guess in the perfect imaginary world all went well and all that..i think the ideal team in peoples mind would be for meath in two years time would be

1 P O'Rourke

2 D Keoghan
3 C McGill
4 J McEntee

5 D Tobin
6 Power
7 B Menton

8 C Gillespie
9 H Rooney

10 Alan Forde
11 G Reilly
12 E Wallace

13 cillian o'sullivan
14 M Newman
15 Daire Rowe

I could be completely wrong on this assumption, just like Brian who forgot his morning coffee ...sadly in my case replace the word coffee with tablets and lots of them..look its not the team i would pick,it would give you every thing in attack that team but would leave holes in it when it came to defense when guys are meant to be tracking back?

I wonder will Cillian O'Sullivan be available this year and if so,would the long lay off effect his huge potential..

Ziggy, The team of the week is possibly 1/2 peoples opinion so its nothing scientific. I've kept track all year of the teams and lots of lads getting into it with only a few constants in the team. Only a couple of players have been on it 3 times in the 8 weeks they've had it up. Now I'm no club expert so i'll admit there's people out there who'll know more than I. I think I mentioned Ciaran Ellis from Don/Ash last year as a new player (think he was on the TotW 3 times) and the Don/Ash lads said he'd not get close to county.

Numero, That was Cian's first appearance on the team of the week and he was MotM in the final. We've a lot of options at MF in Rooney, Flanagan, Gillespie (if he's able to play) Menton (if he's available) so I'd say Cian might find it hard to get in at MF for Meath.

I don't even drink LongFace ;)

I'd hope for Cillian''s sake he's fully healthy before he even contemplates playing football. He'd be an absolute addition to the current panel and would be straight into the first 15 without doubt.
