If it's the Meath website you're looking at, it's because Ratoath are drawn into the QF, awaiting the winner of 1 of the 3 Preliminary rounds. I'd imagine Skryne are there too, not sure who the 3rd team in the U21 proper is, Dunshaughlin maybe?

Whats the story with the U21 "A" football being the 2nd tier? I think Trim were in two U21 "A" finals last year, but had they won both they'd have been top tier winners in hurling and 2nd tier in football.

Might annoy a few here but Bobby O'Brien and Cian O'Brien from Ratoath are worth a look at,Meath don't have a midfielder in the style of Cian and Bobby easily has the talent..

Shane Geraghty and Dan Queeney from Na Fianna and Cathal Finn from Dunboyne worth trying too..

Nail on the head there Ziggy. Looked it may be a brutal idea but should we maybe have a panel of lads (maybe 45-50 players) or the senior and U21 panels training together, doing the strength and conditioning sessions and tactics so that players from the U21 panel can come straight into the senior panel if need. I think that was part of the steering groups plan anyway so hopefully that'll get implemented ASAP.

By being involved with the senior panel they should know the tactics for the senior team. I've said it consistently for 2 years but MOD needs to settle on his 15 and then he can work on his tactics. He needs to build each line as a unit and then developing the style of play. The constant thing of 5 changes from match to match isn't working players are getting confused and are unsure where they should be. Look at Dublin they have it to an art form now. We can all see what they'll do at given points in time during matches.

We also need to settle on a free taker and leave them at it. No more of this Tormey, Newman, O'Sullivan, O'Rourke crap. One free taker and that's it. Newman is the best we have, get him working with Giles or Stafford or hell even Cian Ward (outside of squad time) and build up his confidence. If he misses 3/4 leave him to it. Whipping a guy off after 1/2 misses does nothing for their confidence and unsettles the whole team.

As I've said I don't know the club scene well enough do we have any consistent free takers out there who could be a squad addition?

Donal Lenihan is pretty good at the frees,I would like to see a fully fit Newman next year,we cannot be playing players if they are not fully fit.

agreed Ziggy, a fully fit Newman could be the player to help replace Bray
I think he could be the guy to play in the no 11 jersey and start pulling the strings and get Lenihan in to the FF line.

I reckon we have many better options at number 11 as opposed to Harnan, thats no disrespect to the lad though..

agreed Ziggy, there are better players about who could be used in the 11. for me and I mean no disrespect to Padraic (i'd love to have even a tenth of the talent dedication and commitment he has) but he just doesn't seem to be an intercounty standard player in my own opinion. McMahon was there in 14 and in the corner in 15... Tormey played there a bit in 13... It the constant MOD thing of not settling on a team!!
Now maybe in '16 he'll go with Padraic at 11

Yeah Padraig is a hard worker, but tends to freeze while going forward. Newman,Lenihan,Daniel Queeney would all be interesting options at 11..

One of the main reasons why Bryan Menton had a very good season this year was he got the cover from Harnan when he moved forward in attack...Harnan did not operate as a orthodox number 11..but only as coverer and a link up player..now that said if MOD had to play Donnacha Tobin at number 10 and Davy Dalton behind him this would have paid dividends and interest, see football is all about getting the combination spot on,It should have been (2)Donal Keogan, (5)davy dalton and (10)donnacha tobin and the other side (4)Mcentee (7)Bryan Menton (12)Harnan...also Mickey Burke at (6)..the problem with MOD he does not know how to play Graham O'reilly or get the very best out of him..Tormey at 14 Graham O'reilly at 11..but Tormey dropping back and sitting in front of the 2 midfielders as cover and link up and Graham O'reilly playing as a counter attack player when we get turn over ball just fitting into the pocket...we don't need a half forward line or a full forward line full of scoring forward who don't know how or when to cover or defend!

Where would you be looking to getting scores from?
Mickey Burke at 6 - are ye joking me??
Tobin out the field would be a better idea and I know someone has said it before but maybe in midfield

How does Monaghan get there scores? Donegal don't have many scoring forwards...Tyrone are in the same category..Dublin Paul Flynn and Connelly had to totally reinvent them selves as footballers in order to land a all Ireland for Dublin this year.. by reinventing I mean by not attacking..Mayo have two scoring forwards..How did the best Forward in the country do this year in the All Ireland final (colm copper) or last years player of the year James O Donoghue?

Sadly modern day football is dictated by hard work..Mickey Burke centre back its not a bad idea by all means..its not exactly like we have a top notch centre back else were in the county.. Do we?

No i am not really a fan of scoring forwards to be honest..round about and swings you get with them..we won all Irelands in 1996 and 1999 and the best scoring forward was Ray Cunningham by a country Mile in Meath that time..just saying!

I would not mind having Graham Reilly as the 3rd player in the full forward line, but having a free role, with 3 half forwards in the team aside from him..

In otherwords play 2 full forwards,3 half forwards and then Reilly to have a free role between both lines.
