Pairc Tailteann floodlights

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Small house, the main question I asked was about fitness and how we are unable to close out a game when we were so dominant I gave 3 example of this Laois in league Wicklow and Westmeath in Leinster. I also thanked mid for his services but said perhaps it was time to look elsewhere for someone to bring us to next step . No vulgar language, no taut remarks ( as my kids work etc all following me)
And I got blocked. North Korea how are you.
Anyway my offer still stands , I will gladly purchase a seat in a new stand to the value of 1000€ , now I am not suggesting everyone can or should do that, times are still hard for majority but perhaps putting a levy of €5 on tickets or something like that might help, people want to contribute but until the get fingers out nothing will happen. For me the new cb seems to be like sellafield and windscale, same thing different names.

That would certainly be a very generous offer royaldunne, I certainly couldn't fork out €1000, me arse is falling out of me trousers at the minute but I would be willing to donate up to €100 towards renovating PT.

The other problem is accountability though, I don't fully trust that the money would be spent wisely so donating money would be a punt.

But anyway what exactly are the CB doing to raise money? I'm not a member of a club in Meath but I do attend most if our intercounty games (unfortunately I'll probably miss quite a few this year though do to financial constraints) but I never remember being asked to donate anything towards the renovation of PT.

Also are they even looking for a stadium sponsor? This would be really easy money and should be considered!

Sooner or later health and safety are going to pull the shutters down on PT and nobody wants to see that.

So I see the floodlights issue has been put on hold again. I guess at this point it probably makes sense to wait. What still irks me though is the fact that no proper explanation has been given as to how they were allowed to be erected incorrectly.

I reckon Leinster council will go the new stadium route..they wont have to worry about concert dates in Croker either

It actually does make more sense to wait, imagine how angry we'd be if they went ahead and put the lights back up only for them to have to be taken down again for redevelopment!

As for redevelopment itself, hopefully we'll hear something sooner rather than later, the county board needs to be strong and hammer home the point that we need help with this. Or we could go down the route of some other counties and just build away without the funding and wait for Croke Park to step in when we can't afford the repayments.

I'm pretty confident that Leinster and Central Councils will back the redevelopment of PT, as I've said before it had the size and scope to be redeveloped into a proper 20 or 25k capacity stadium which is badly wanted for north/west Leinster and indeed south Ulster in terms of being a neutral venue for qualifier matches, club matches etc. We have what Louth, Kildare, Westmeath, Longford, Wicklow and even the Dubs don't have which is a county ground which can be vastly improved and expanded to a suitable capacity. I believe the penny will drop with the powers that be and they will green light PT..........I hope.

The lights are lying idle and surely still worth a decent wedge. I would assume they will never be used in PT again. If we get the go-ahead for a renovation then new lights will be installed. How about they are sold off now so we can recoup some money (and perhaps leave the championship ticket prices at the fiver).
Perhaps a club that needs lights could come up with an innovative way of taking them off the CB's hands.

The last thing we need is for these to be the Meath GAA's version of eVoting machines. Or maybe Noel Dempsey would put the CB in contact with a few storage facilities.

Ok so now we have forfeited home advantage in the U21 Championship to the Dubs because we have no floodlights in PT!!!! Well why can't it be played during the day?? Or why not Simonstown or Ashbourne?? Would they not hold the expected crowd?? Jesus it's hard enough to get a win against the Dubs without giving up home advantage to them.
