St Pats pitch is the best in the county and has more parking there than anything outside Navan and Dunganny. There is little parking at Trim-you can get into the pitch but its very difficult to get out. You would need a new road!! maybe two extra exits. On health and safety why was the grass areas closed as they are the safest in any grounds. I would rather fall on grass than concrete. Some of the guys dealing with H & S issues have little experience and are relying on very little knowledge. Hopefully there is a good job done on the main stand whenever works are started/completed. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 03/11/2015 17:51:15 1804162 Link 1 |
Wouldn't mind seeing a few new pitches being rolled out across the county rather than a new stadium. Get the young lads and lassies out punting ball bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1790 - 03/11/2015 19:24:38 1804198 Link 0 |
Can anyone answer me this - has the county board ever come out and answered all the questions surrounding this issue? All I've ever heard is the health & safety line trotted out, but I've never seen a proper, detailed explanation of the problem, how it arose, when it'll be fixed & at what cost. Has this ever been addressed at county meetings? I've seen nothing in the press. SmallHouse (Meath) - Posts: 291 - 12/11/2015 15:25:54 1806834 Link 0 |
No , nobody wants to give a definitive explanation whatsoever royalpainter (Meath) - Posts: 874 - 13/11/2015 19:44:36 1807150 Link 0 |
There is a written statement dated 13th Nov 2015 from Meath GAA on the LMFMRadio Twitter account twice today which states, among other things, that 'Croke Park have agreed in principle to fund this restoring of the floodlights but insist that a rigorous tendering process be carried out for the re-installation works and that Meath GAA are currently engaged in this tendering process'. meath1967 (Meath) - Posts: 56 - 15/11/2015 18:43:04 1807454 Link 0 |
The statement left more questions than answers, many of which have been raised here. SmallHouse (Meath) - Posts: 291 - 16/11/2015 09:03:18 1807503 Link 0 |
Sadly this is what we've come to expect from this county board, ie if you're lucky enough to even get an answer or a statement chances are they're going to be vague and curt. I have no doubt they took over after a long string of disastrous county boards and that leaves them in a difficult spot, I acknowledge that but surely a bit of open engagement and frank answers would be better than the disrespectful cloak and dagger approach they're so fond of. Seeing as we've a midweek home O'Byrne Cup game at the beginning of January, where will that be played? Ashbourne? Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1362 - 16/11/2015 11:28:20 1807534 Link 0 |
God knows...you'd think some of those questions would have been addressed in the statement, but alas... SmallHouse (Meath) - Posts: 291 - 16/11/2015 12:31:21 1807560 Link 0 |
The full list of League fixtures released today has Meath v Armagh now down as 2pm on Sunday so looks like the lights are not going to be up in time Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 16/11/2015 16:55:15 1807660 Link 1 |
The first two questions that smallhouse fields, well its incredibly that they have not been answered. The whole thing is odd.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 16/11/2015 17:36:50 1807672 Link 0 |
Our delegate told us that before the All Ireland U21 Final that was fixed for Navan H&S had to ok the place and when they checked the lights they found one of them not to be up to the standard required with poor remedial repair work evident and with rust and cracks on the the foundations and bolts. The game was then moved from Navan. Further checks revealed problems with the other 3 lights and they all had to be taken down to enable Club matches to be played over the Summer. This he told us was stated at County Board meeting back in Summer. numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 348 - 16/11/2015 18:38:02 1807696 Link 0 |
Yes but in this day and age why were they bandy?(for want of a better word),and who constructed them in the first place? ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 16/11/2015 19:34:17 1807711 Link 1 |
Seems to me pretty shoddy work back in 2006. Hard to blame the 2015 crew for that Brownepat (Meath) - Posts: 532 - 16/11/2015 19:45:45 1807716 Link 0 |
Yes but whatever company were involved would have to be looked at seriously. You are brought in to do a job for a football stadium, you would think you would make sure its done right! They should be named and shamed.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 16/11/2015 20:25:29 1807730 Link 1 |
No surprise that i agree with htaem here. But also the question of where the midweek O'Byrne game is going to be played? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 17/11/2015 11:22:37 1807851 Link 0 |
Who are we playing in the midweek O'Byrne Cup game? I think our first game is away anyway. Ashbourne would not be a bad choice.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 17/11/2015 11:57:26 1807866 Link 1 |
All of Meaths league home fixtures have been put down for sunday at 2pm ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 17/11/2015 14:06:49 1807940 Link 1 |
Now appears that other works on redeveloping the ground have to be taken into consideration as per Francis Flynn, if we are going to see s new stand and terraces put in I'd nearly do without the lights for a while Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 17/11/2015 16:00:04 1807993 Link 1 |
