We are the closest team to Tyrone (lost by 2 points) and now they are in an All-Ireland semi-final. A bit of light at the end of the tunnel maybe? And in fairness Westmeath were very hungry on the day they'd have went through a brick wall to put one over us. I wonder how Kerry or Mayo would have dealt with that Westmeath pressure. Despite this MOD still must go.

To be fair Jim,Tyrone were very poor against us.Obviously the big thing was the Westmeath game.

Tyrone have improved with each game they have played and that's what happens when a team get a bit of momentum going. Nobody will ever know now but Meath if they had got past Tyrone might also be in the same position now. It was a dubious penalty call for Tyrone and a penalty which was not given to Wallace that decided that match. Meath played good football that day. I still think Kerry will beat Tyrone easily.

Tyrone where awful against us, listen lets not reduce ourselves to we got closer to a team that 3 games later are in a All-ireland semi final. Wicklow drew with Meath in 91 they never went on to dominate football. Flip it the other way the last 3 times we played Moganhan we got hammered, and Tyrone have now beating us 2 twice all under MOD's reign, "Progress" get a grip.

Bob excellent point. Look i cant believe some people are grasping at straws to keep mod, using Tyrone who let me tell you will be well beat by Kerry as a example, does anyone really think if we were playing Monaghan yesterday they wouldn't have hammered us again?
And the worst of them all, players mod and others using 35 mins of football against wmeath above all counties as a sign of progress, its really got under my skin if i am honest, and i want the new management whoever they may be to tell these two players to grow a pair of balls.
Honestly the lame excuses from mod have become normal but when it comes from players it shows why we will never reach last 8 or div 1 under mod, it shows weakness, softness, and above all stupidity, where they actually feel they are progressing. I am honestly thinking of not renewing my season ticket if mod remains.

Tyrone only looked like they played bad that game against us because their main goal was to stop us scoring because they know how good our forwards are, however they didn't predict we'd go so defensive and not allow them to score much, and like others said if it wasn't for the penalty decision we would've won. I personally would love to see graham Geraghty as manager, I cant see it happening though but I think/hope if MOD stays in charge that it wont be the end of the world as some people are predicting. Ive found this season a lot of supporters are overreacting about how bad we were, especially the supporters who didn't go to the tyrone game and get to see how hard the players worked. With or without MOD I genuinely think that there will be a big improvement next year and that this year will be seen as just an unlucky year and one that just got away from us, lets call a spade a spade here, that Westmeath game was a freak result, if we had somehow held on and got a draw we would've annihilated them in the replay. I know theres no good saying ifs and buts however I do genuinely think that had we gotten over Westmeath/tyrone we would've had a long summer.

It's now that we need to support our team regardless of who is in,frustrating the last while but I have to admire that the man is sticking to his guns.he needs now selectors who bring honesty and respect in telling him and players where we at.if he goin for yes men were (f....ked).its with clubs co board now.

That's it, I feel the same way, the excuses and infuriating claims of progress have to go.

Htaem yeah, look i wanted GG when the job came up, but i backed mod unwaveringly when he got it, even after last years demise to Armagh which upto wmeath game was worst managerial performance i have ever seen, however this year i believed he would have learned his lessons and amendments been made , however it became blatantly obvious that he had not learned one single thing, the comments to Ryan about not whinging then running to media (he actually ran back into press room) about a non event showed he wanted deflection rather than saying look lads i am sorry for our worst ever defeat to dubs , i take full blame and we will bounce back, then the Armagh game was as i said horrendous.
But this year i kept the faith, the league was there to be won, it had less quality than ever before, actually div 3 was harder with Armagh Tipp Fermanagh, but we threw away games we should have won particularly against Laois and Roscommon, but to come out with i have no regrets statement after league showed how far removed mod is actually from the fans, yet we packed into navan and again only for biggy a injury ravaged Wicklow could have and probably would have beat us only they ended with 13 players , again we waited for Meath to play anywhere near their potential, the first half against Westmeath was good, but considering opposition and the way they set up at the back it was what would be expected, then wmeath management seen how open we were at the back (something my wm friends said to me at ht) used this to their full advantage, yet from sideline we did nothing, our capt didn't know they never had beat us, our manager then said it was lack of experience that cost us, yet he was one who got rid of experience and instead of sending on queeney who had a bit of it he sent on a 18yo who's confidence was shot anyway by been in a team he has no business in for another two year at least. Then the famous Tyrone game , yeah we worked hard at stopping them score and the players deserve full credit for that but we ourselves didn't score for 27 mins (oh to clear any confusion i WAS there) but we looked tired yet again , we cant play 70 mins and since all backroom staff remains Expect selectors that wont change. However Tyrone were terrible that day but when we had to go after game we were 2nd best.
Now to just add if Westmeath players had seen how badly exposed at back we were we would never have built up that 35 minutes progression (my eye) that our players are bs about, it was cribben who set his average team of players to exploit it and our sideline did nothing.
Lame excuses have become the norm and this will continue if mod remains of that no one should have any doubts, McHugh is correct we are soft and going nowhere. Unless clubs have conviction tomorrow night that will continue, and i honestly don't know how i or most others who go to O'Byrne league Leinster etc can pay out our hard earned money on lads who whinge about us getting on their backs for pointing out the blatantly obvious.

Well i like everyone else has said my piece on this, i hope the clubs vote for change but i have a nagging feeling come tomorrow mod will have another 2 years, its tight make no mistake about it, many clubs who have players on senior panel are voting him out but others who haven't are keeping him in. The clubs that will vote against tonight may shock a few Meath people as have players on senior panel and may go against what keoghan and tormey are saying where many think that all players are of that view , i hope press are allowed to stay tonight.

Interesting that Tyrone's tiernan Mc Cann who 'Won' the controversial penalty that knocked Meath Out has now been shown up as a Diver.

Yes it was very interesting to see McCann go down so easily and that was my point re controversial penalty up in Omagh. There was no live TV coversage of that game and there was less than 2 mins shown on Sunday game, could be because of Boycott of RTE from Tyrone. Its always small margins that decide games like that and contrary to what Ziggy's firends say, Meath played very well that day against that desperate brand of football which was also played on Saturday v Monaghan. Tyrone win by any means and fair play to them but cheating and getting away with it is not their fault if referees can't pick up on whats a dive and a genuine foul.
And yes Lenihan is playing very well for us, mind you Moynalvey were not good on Friday and missing a few, but I hope we will be there in the latter part of the Keegan Cup. I think MOD should be give another year with a new selection team that might give a bit more drive to the young team that are available at the moment with a few additions - Mattimoe playing well etc.

Well that's absolute waffle anyway (and I was at the Tyrone game), we didn't get our opening score for nearly 30mins, and we were playing just as if not more defensive than Tyrone, it was pure poison from both teams. Also what do you have against ziggy? seems like a pretty pointless vendetta you have there.

I am on the fence wrt mod. Fair play to him for sticking with it though. On the other hand if a viable alternative was to come out with a strong case and vision for meath football then I could easily go with an alternative to mod.

Such a shame there is nobody passionate enough to come out and take the bull by the horns. The apathy in the county at the moment is really killing the game.
