We are the closest team to Tyrone (lost by 2 points) and now they are in an All-Ireland semi-final. A bit of light at the end of the tunnel maybe? And in fairness Westmeath were very hungry on the day they'd have went through a brick wall to put one over us. I wonder how Kerry or Mayo would have dealt with that Westmeath pressure. Despite this MOD still must go. Jimin10 (Meath) - Posts: 783 - 08/08/2015 20:40:50 1766189 Link 0 |
To be fair Jim,Tyrone were very poor against us.Obviously the big thing was the Westmeath game. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 08/08/2015 20:44:38 1766191 Link 0 |

Tyrone have improved with each game they have played and that's what happens when a team get a bit of momentum going. Nobody will ever know now but Meath if they had got past Tyrone might also be in the same position now. It was a dubious penalty call for Tyrone and a penalty which was not given to Wallace that decided that match. Meath played good football that day. I still think Kerry will beat Tyrone easily. castleroyal (Meath) - Posts: 57 - 08/08/2015 21:54:37 1766255 Link 0 |
Tyrone where awful against us, listen lets not reduce ourselves to we got closer to a team that 3 games later are in a All-ireland semi final. Wicklow drew with Meath in 91 they never went on to dominate football. Flip it the other way the last 3 times we played Moganhan we got hammered, and Tyrone have now beating us 2 twice all under MOD's reign, "Progress" get a grip. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1263 - 08/08/2015 21:59:57 1766261 Link 0 |

Bob excellent point. Look i cant believe some people are grasping at straws to keep mod, using Tyrone who let me tell you will be well beat by Kerry as a example, does anyone really think if we were playing Monaghan yesterday they wouldn't have hammered us again? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 09/08/2015 10:09:08 1766307 Link 0 |
A bit like an election poll does anyone know the chances of him staying on tomorrow? 50/50? 70/30? or is it anyones guess Jimin10 (Meath) - Posts: 783 - 09/08/2015 10:31:01 1766325 Link 0 |
Tyrone only looked like they played bad that game against us because their main goal was to stop us scoring because they know how good our forwards are, however they didn't predict we'd go so defensive and not allow them to score much, and like others said if it wasn't for the penalty decision we would've won. I personally would love to see graham Geraghty as manager, I cant see it happening though but I think/hope if MOD stays in charge that it wont be the end of the world as some people are predicting. Ive found this season a lot of supporters are overreacting about how bad we were, especially the supporters who didn't go to the tyrone game and get to see how hard the players worked. With or without MOD I genuinely think that there will be a big improvement next year and that this year will be seen as just an unlucky year and one that just got away from us, lets call a spade a spade here, that Westmeath game was a freak result, if we had somehow held on and got a draw we would've annihilated them in the replay. I know theres no good saying ifs and buts however I do genuinely think that had we gotten over Westmeath/tyrone we would've had a long summer. meathalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 789 - 09/08/2015 10:53:50 1766357 Link 0 |
It's now that we need to support our team regardless of who is in,frustrating the last while but I have to admire that the man is sticking to his guns.he needs now selectors who bring honesty and respect in telling him and players where we at.if he goin for yes men were (f....ked).its with clubs co board now. Htaem yeah, look i wanted GG when the job came up, but i backed mod unwaveringly when he got it, even after last years demise to Armagh which upto wmeath game was worst managerial performance i have ever seen, however this year i believed he would have learned his lessons and amendments been made , however it became blatantly obvious that he had not learned one single thing, the comments to Ryan about not whinging then running to media (he actually ran back into press room) about a non event showed he wanted deflection rather than saying look lads i am sorry for our worst ever defeat to dubs , i take full blame and we will bounce back, then the Armagh game was as i said horrendous. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 09/08/2015 12:16:30 1766435 Link 0 |

Well i like everyone else has said my piece on this, i hope the clubs vote for change but i have a nagging feeling come tomorrow mod will have another 2 years, its tight make no mistake about it, many clubs who have players on senior panel are voting him out but others who haven't are keeping him in. The clubs that will vote against tonight may shock a few Meath people as have players on senior panel and may go against what keoghan and tormey are saying where many think that all players are of that view , i hope press are allowed to stay tonight. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 10/08/2015 09:13:20 1766889 Link 0 |

Interesting that Tyrone's tiernan Mc Cann who 'Won' the controversial penalty that knocked Meath Out has now been shown up as a Diver. Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 518 - 10/08/2015 12:19:15 1767139 Link 0 |

I am on the fence wrt mod. Fair play to him for sticking with it though. On the other hand if a viable alternative was to come out with a strong case and vision for meath football then I could easily go with an alternative to mod. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1790 - 10/08/2015 13:10:19 1767212 Link 0 |
