Meath v Wicklow

Lads stop panicin....Kevin Reilly is only genuine concern for the semi final....menton, Newman and POR are recovering from hand injuries and training away, the injuries can be strapped up and they will be playing....Gillespie has a niggle but is being wrapped in cotton wool. Reilly is 50/50 and is a massive worry. SOR isn't a massive worry too me anyway as I feel he isn't a massive loss...harsh I know but he just hasn't progressed as hoped. Hope he proves me wrong

if rooney is not fit enough MOD could go Tormey midfield and Dalton at 12

If Rooney wasn't fit enough I'd play Damian Carroll Midfield

Not a Flanagan fan? Carroll needs to fight for his place in the team, at the minute there are lads performing better than he is and I certainly wouldn't be sure of him at centrefield!

Fester you may not be to far off the mark with team. Would be a major gamble to play Flanagan and Rooney. Rooney has played very little football for Meath. Would have liked to see him play with a more experienced player like Gillespie, to bed him in. But MoD running out of options.

My apologies Fester, just realize you had Flanagan in there.

I think Donnacha Tobin is a real option for midfield, he plays in the position for his club, he is very mobile and could be a good combination with Flanagan and I actually think he could also be a good partner for Gillespie in the future if Flanagan doesn't make it !

Agree on Tobin...the closest thing we have to the complete footballer in the mould of a Paul Flynn. Centre back might also be an option for him.

Tobin is a good option at midfield I think. If we get to the Leinster Final though I'd like to see tobin marking Flynn or Connolly because of his mobility and strength. For this reason I'd keep him on the wing to get him more familiar.

In my team I kinda went with a mix of what O'Dowd will go for and what I'd like to see, personally I wouldn't play Burke or Rooney but I think if fit O'Dowd will play both. The reason I went with Carroll is I think he'd be a good link man to have in the middle. When an opposition attach breaks down have everyone in the team to look for Carroll. He has a beautiful foot pass and he could really hurt the opposition with his passes into our full forward line. He also plays midfield for his club so he's no stranger.

I definitely think that we should find a place for Damien Carroll in the team, even if just for sake of the tradition and identity of Meath football because he's a class act and a very stylish footballer. His delivery into the full forward line from the boot is as good as anyone in the country in my opinion.

Would love for us to find a role for him somewhere, centre forward, midfield or third midfielder might be the places for him.

I think Menton is the closet we have to a Paul Flynn. Defo stronger overall than Tobin..

Its up to Carroll whether he should be in the team or not..

Ye Menton is a really good strong runner, but he needs to be kept along the wing where he's most effective, throwing him in at 6 doesn't work.

Carroll is a very good player in theory but it doesn't always work out for him on the day and he can be quite anonymous, he's one of those players that needs to show more hunger and desire because he has the talent.

That's twice biggy had a massive score from play in a challenge, what was final score? Lets hope biggy keeps playing like that.
