On another note i hope none of you were in the unfortunate situation of having your car clamped yesterday, it was sad to see so many cars clamped after a match, for what was a minor infraction is still improper parking.

Well lads once again the Great Glenny calls it right 3 picks 3 rights.... anyway it was a brutal game wides 31 or 32 in total players most of the time afraid to shot, Biggie did not show again, Tobin and Magill did good with McEntee looking good till he went off but Brian Power for me was the best Meath player. Gillispie and Flanagan did Ok but they were faced with decent big midfielders. Cavan were just as bad and when McEnroe beat the blanket and kicked a point from 45m he was duly taken off... While ORourke did kick a few points I taut his overall play was poor and it was only when he went off Meath took the game and scored the last 5 points.
This was a League title left behind and that is dissapointing Meath were in a place to make Division 1 but missed it. Next year is far away and the task will be harder... Pity

A disappointing league overall, did not play well for 70 minutes in any game, finishing is a major problem, what did we average per game about 13/14 points? nowhere near good enough. On a more positive note two aspects which came in for much criticism last year seems to have been addressed to some degree-fitness and attitude (still some that go missing when needed). A bit early to be worrying about the Dubs, we cant count those chickens yet

Seadog if we don't beat one of Louth,Wexford Westmeath in a game after Wicklow i would demand not only the immediate removal of management but also of any player that played any part in that game, the auld false modesty never sits well with me, i hope whichever team we play (id say Westmeath) along with Wicklow, give us some sort of game, but if we don't reach Leinster final then for me that would be Meath lowest point of past 30 years.

Very worrying for meath scraped through the game v cavan could of been a lot worse if Mackey had finished the goal chance ..... Realistically I'd say if meath make the q/f of championship they will be doing well had to throw on all of the big guns to scrap past cavan.

well done to Roscommon and Down getting promoted and the all best in Div 1.
anyone think that head to head rule is a bit unfair as Meath had to play Roscommon away surely on balance a over the course of the league score difference is fairer system (even though there still is a home away imbalance) also it might encourage more scoring.

"No regrets", MOD Please don't come out with statements like that . All you had to do was mingle with the crowds in Navan on Sunday to sense that the Meath populace were mighty disappointed not gaining promotion , but more so on the type of display given in the Pairc against a Cavan side that we could have written the game plan for . Additionally someone mentioned that we are getting better a playing the Northern teams at the defensive game . Please cop on . Meath won by 2 pts against a Cavan team that spent most of the game in their own half but still managed to score only two points less than Meath , and also to kick 16 wide's .That's not been better , that's playing Russion Roulette . Where is the progress there . Evolution is about adapting to your environment to survive . We did adapt to our environment to survive , Just ,and we done it all by mimicking the oppositions defensive system ."God help us"
Cavan scored with nearly every attack they had . Wheres the statistics on that . If they had scored when Mackey waltzed thru our defense ( as was the case for the full hour), (we do not seem to know how to defend), then we would not only be disappointed but we'd be baying for blood. But as seems to be the case with this Management , they are un touchable ......
Look at our displays . 1 good dominating game against Down when needed . A collapse against Galway , A surrender against Roscommon and a taking the eye of the ball situation against Laois. Do we deserve to be in Div 1 . Not on the displays shown this year . God help us when we have 3 more Northern teams to contend with .
An Mhi Abu , from a real fan .....

Good to have gotten the win against such a defensive team but with results not going our way naturally it was a bit of an anticlimax, I think this really was the year to go up, last year we missed out thanks to a silly draw up in Donegal, but in fairness div2 was a lot tougher last year. This year we had 4 home games again and the standard was lower, so there's no excuse, that draw against Laois was criminal and it's cost us dearly.

But anyway we can sit around licking our wounds all we want, the focus now has to be on getting everybody right for the championship, on paper we have an easier route to the Leinster final than we had in 12, 13 or 14 so not making it would be a disastrous slip up. With everybody back (which hopefully they will be) there's no reason not to go out and push hard for Leinster this year, we know how good Dublin are but surely we're not content to be the bridesmaids every year are we?

Htaem I think maybe that is the problem we are content to be bridesmaids in Leinster every year. When MOD SAYS " NO REGRETS" then it is time to ask serious questions...MOD that is not good enough, and displays a slight touch of arrogance imo. You have no basis for that. You need to ask why no consistent game plan especially on distrution and interplay amongst forwards. Basic coaching would result in forwards ALWAYS showing for the ball
Couple of positives Mc Gill looks the part and midfield better..... However MOD if you genuinely think you cannot do better then just see out the 3 years ,and leave it at that. Thanks anyway for trying!!

Methinks a media ban for management is needed following the latest offering from MOD. Doesn't inspire confidence!

The point I was making was that it was nearly a full meath team compared to Half a cavan team .... Anyway well done on the result

RD Certainly not a case of false modesty on my part, agree we should get there but then again we thought we would get promoted. Meath currently in no position to dismiss any team.

Seadog sorry i wasn't saying you were been modest.
I was only referring to myself, sort of taking the preverbal out of myself, as im sure most here would agree i never say Meath will get beat, :)
And modesty wouldn't be my strong point:)
