Rossies v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

as Kieran donaghy would say well royaldunne what do you think of that?? Roscommon played mediocre missed a lot of chances as did meath,i thought in the first half meath were extremely defensive as I often seen cathal shine get the ball on the 50 have 12 meath men in front of him and only 2 or 3 behind him! Stephen bray could have made a difference, reilly played well on his comeback

There is one sure thing we have the worst management in this division . We have a good bunch of players who dont seem to have any idea what they are at . How he looked at Dalton and Bray for the length he did is beyond me . when he did bring on ORourke he left him up on his own and now another Meath player within 30yards of him . I was at the game today with a netural supporter that has played and managed at a good level and he said the team has no idea what they are at . We have a lot of good players on this Meath panel but sadly their best years are being wasted under this manager .

We must beat Down next weekend and then Cavan and hope Laois beat or draw with Down in their final game, if we finished level on points with Down after beating them I think the head to head result comes into play first, if we finished level on points with Roscommon they would beat us to promotion on head to head. Roscommon have Galway and Westmeath in their last two games so Id fancy Laois more to do us a favour than Westmeath if that situation arose, providing we take care of the small matter of beating Down first.......optimism my friends optimism

Some poor referring decisions in the first half. He seemed to make up for it slightly in the second. We kicked too many wides from play and frees. So did Roscommon first half. Despite the two bad goals conceded we were still in the game late on. Helped by Roscommon taking most of their second half frees (from around the forty) short. Wind was picking up I suppose. The first goal was very poor with so many Meath players in the box, the second crazy. Cost us big time. At half time it looked good (playing with breeze second half) but Roscommon changes meant we had most of the team playing deeper second half than in the first, with only one player inside for much of the half. MOD should have started Sean Tobin. Kevin Reilly played well for his first game of the season.

Extreme optimism Richieq, we have to focus on winning our next 2 games obviously but I wouldn't fancy us, we're just not playing well enough, 1 more win should see us safe and hopefully we can get that, promotion has left the harbor, relegation sadly has not!

We must have optimism, what's the point otherwise? I was like a small frustrated bull in a cow less field after that game today but we can either look at the glass half full or half empty here. We cost ourselves the game so the majority of problems, like last weekend, can be rectified ourselves. We got a lot of players back today and got game time into them and maybe just maybe that game will bring them on for next Saturday night, if we could get the win in Newry them were in for a good last day, without optimism there is no support, these guys deserve support as I don't doubt their workrate or commitment or desire to be successful

Too easy to blame the manager, I agree MOD probably isn't going to get much more out of this team but the players are big lads, they need to accept a large slice of the blame also.

I think its pretty obvious that mod is in last chance salon, and if promotion isn't achieved then only a Leinster title will save him, so i wont kick a man walking the proverbial green mile,
Down are a hell of alot better team than Roscommon, but if we win that we still mightn't get promoted even if we win last two games against better opposition than we faced today.

True RD it's out of our hands now but Roscommon did beat this Down team and I agree judging on what I saw today Roscommon are no great shakes, which makes or inability to convert chances all the more frustrating, but I think gives us hope in Newry.

Same old mantra for o dowd too slow to change . Really missed Tormey today, and that was us almost at full strength. Gillespie came back with a bang as did Reilly . Anyone know what happen s bray ? paddy has saved us more times before so I won't complain too much. At last it was great to c Shane in FF and this is where he needs to stay . Why was Newman told to drop the last ball ontothe peninsula spot ?

I have to agree its not looking good for O'Dowd,he will see the season out,but unless there are serious improvements in the champ,I doubt he will be in charge next year.

I was at the game today. Our forwards kicked so many wides, it was unbelievable. We dominated mid field, with Flanagan winning huge ball. But our forwards were asleep for some of the ball he fisted. Can't blame Paddy O Rourke. Some other positives - Kevin O Reilly / James Mc Entee / Conor Gill. But struggling after this. Tormey a major loss. S O R didn't figure at all when he came in.

I think if you are to us SOR at full forward, you need guys to be working off him.Never really impressed me at full forward in the past

This has to be most significant loss in a long time , practically kills promotion and must be
A confidence breaker. Kudos to Ros for taking the points, definitely long way from worst side in Div2, may yet turn out
To be the best!! Still think the lads commitment is top notch and cannot be questioned, just need guidance to be a complete" team"
Have to wonder if that capability is there now in the management ranks. Seriously need to find some game winning mojo before Championship time
Or heaven help us if we come through the easier side of the draw and possibly meet Dublin in Leinster Final. Might happen but with the way
Things are going wouldn't be surprised if it didn't . Anyway need to beat Down and Cavan for pride of nothing else

I can't see SOR fitting in to this squad. He has never really impressed. Surprised to see him back. Surely we have better options at this stage?

Wasn't surprised with that result. Rosscommon not even playing well and still winning shows the gulf that has arisen between the sides and going by the underage talent coming through the gap between the sides is only going to get bigger in the years ahead. Worrying times ahead for Meath football the defensive style they are currently playing is saving face but long term underage and club football needs to improve in Meath for the county team to improve.
