Sorry to react so bluntly but anybody who still insists on Menton at 6 instead of Keogan has to have the memory of a goldfish, it's a proven, guaranteed, you gonna get yo ass whupped failure.

I think menton is a better 7 than 6, and while Donal is the best corner back in Ireland he is needed at chb for now.

Yep that's the way it is at the minute royaldunne, Barney, Keogan is a brilliant player and I know his position is 2 but we need him at 6 because currently we have no other consistent performers for that position. Menton is a fine player, he's worth a few scores to us so I'd have him on at 7 or even 12 now that Tormey is unfortunately out for a little while and he can even cover for 3 & 4 if needed, but not 6, he's not an inter county standard 6 for me.

Also Menton he didn't play at 6 all last season, Keogan was moved there to shore up the defence during the league and also for the Carlow and Kildare games, he didn't play at 6 for the Dublin (named at 6 but moved to 2) or Armagh games though where we conceded 3-38 in 2 dismal defeats, again not Menton's fault exclusively of course.

1704009 Hi everyone! Can anyone please verify if Sunday's match is at 3.00pm? That's what it says on the main GAA website but there's nothing on the Meath GAA site. I've read somewhere else that it's a 2.00pm throw-in. I also notice from this site that the supporters bus leaves Navan at 10.30am which would be very early and allow plenty of time in the pub beforehand! Can anyone throw some light on this as I'm all confused! If it is a 3.00pm start then it's the only throw-in at that time anywhere on Sunday.

Thanks Decky - can't beat local knowledge! Roscommon is a lovely town - probably the most traditional old fashioned county town that's left in the country - but on Sunday it's a case of getting in, grab the 3 points and getting out! Plenty of time later in the year to enjoy all that Roscommon has to offer! Gleesons Town House I remember well!

Htaem that's spot on. At the moment we have no choice and maybe the idea of him @ 12/11 for this game is great idea. Looks like after last night Rooney may not be fit enough for Sunday but the run out will have done him good so hopefully.

I'll echo ObtobeaRossie's comments - ye are more than welcome and I'd imagine there'll be a good Meath support (despite the uproar the cancellation caused the last day for some posters here), but hopefully ye'll be leaving empty handed!

Htaem, Barney, RD. I watched Menton as a minor and he was an outstanding No. 6.Unfortunately he was never given an extended run to develop into a county senior No. 6. He has been badly messed around filling gaps on this Meath team for the last 4 years. For his first few years he was filling in for Kevin Reilly at full back when Kevin was injured . This year when he has been playing his best football at No 7 he is asked to cover at midfield. Now somebody has suggested playing him at No.12. The lad needs a fixed position as he is one of our better players.
On the subject of Keoghan he is an outstanding corner back but an average CHB. He loses the ball a lot going forward.

Subzero i AGREE leave Menton at 7 and nowhere else, he has played his best football there.Keoghan is too keen to go forward as chb. Leave him at no2 and nowhere else .A bit of a mystery how so many players lose concentration so easily during games.Indeed it tells its own story when our oldest payer Stephen Bray is our most consistent and best player this year. Difficult to accept that in the last 14 years our talent pool is so low. Indeed that seems to be the main problem. Ok MICKO is on a learning curve, but he cannot work miracles without the raw material to start with.

I know Menton has been shifted about a lot but in fairness needs must when Reilly was out and I agree that he seems to be playing well at 7 and I'm happy for him to get an extended run there. But to be fair my suggestion of playing him at 12 while Tormey is injured was just that, a suggestion I'm not championing the idea but don't knock it either, there have been successful backs to forwards conversions in the past.

Ye royaldunne we could use Rooney back around the middle, he's had an impressive start to career and we've been pretty weak around the middle in the last 2 games, hopefully Gillespie can get back soon as well, we'll have a pretty strong centre field then.

Word is Gillespie might get run out on Sunday. Hopefully all goes well.
Not only do i believe we can win on Sunday but i believe we will, not since Kildare have a team that have done so little have been hyped so much, to me even a average performance should see us squeeze through, we cant buy into their hype and give them too much respect, just go with the attitude we are Meath and they are Roscommon and collect two points and lets see what happens in Newry.
Hon the Royal.

Nobull im going to disagree with you slightly there, while bray has had a good league , id also add biggy, tormey, menton and keoghan to those that have been top class, but if im honest i think our best player considering who he had to fill in for has been McGill . But that's just Imo

I hope ye turn up with that attitude too. Ye'll be battered back across the Shannon.

However, I don't think many others share your arrogance, just as most Rossies know we're not suddenly the World Beaters that we're being hyped up to be!

royaldunne Mc Gill has been a very good stand in for Kevin, and looks a man for the future no doubt. In fact at this stage i expect he will make no 3 his own.I give the nod to STEPHEN because of his ability to anticipate play, and consistently show for the ball.Opposition always give him closer attention because of his known ability. I agree both Tormey and Menton won the game against Kildare in the last 20 mins, and full credit to them. Keoghan a determined and energetic player but to me goes forward to often at the expense of leaving gaps in defence . Now believe should play No 2 where his undoubted talent and experience can help McGill if needed.Graham Reilly highly talented ,and can really play when he feels like it. Some great long range points so far this year. Any way i suppose there are a lot of variables come into play including the possibility that if Tormey and Menton had played for the 72 mins against Laois, and repeated the finishing bursts like against Kildare we would have won. I really want to see more TEAMWORK for 70 plus minutes from here forward, and only then can we really measure progress.

Totally agree nobull, teamwork, has to be upped for full 70+
Team is as expected with Andrew out, there is some pace in that selection lets see how the rossies cope with that.

A little surprised there are not a few changes to the team,Sean Tobin unlucky not to starting imo and Cillian O'Sullivan along with with Donncha Tobin a bit fortunate to be starting.Burke at corner back again..

Not a bad team, just hope they can perform, Donnacha Tobin is a good player in fairness ziggy but he was better at wing back, was impressed with his debut season there.
