Our destiny is in our own hands we are in a promotion spot and a win against Roscommon will put us in a strong position, the players know what's required, some of our build up play last night was excellent but our shooting let us down, should have put away 3 goals last night but didn't and those missed chances cost us a point but despite all that we are still second and I think the players will take heart from that. We are capable of beating Roscommon and I would certainly look at starting Eamon Wallace next weekend and giving Gillespie game time, any word on the Tormey injury? His absence would be a loss to us, certainly dissapointing to concede a 7 point lead but at least we got a point and given the way results are going in this division that point could be crucial come the end Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 15/03/2015 18:22:02 1702959 Link 0 |

If down beat Meath, then they they will already be promoted before playing us in last game. That could be a massive help to us in our bid to avoid drop. We could do meath a favour by taking points off Galway next week Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 767 - 15/03/2015 18:34:47 1702968 Link 0 |

GlasagusOr "more likely we will lose all 3 remaining games" to quote yourself. Not nice reading but may very well prove correct. That would mean no progress from last year. When you attempt to find a reason for that i suppose talent pool is low to start with. Secondly it seems clear that players are not mentally fit as a team. An example of lack of teamwork last night we had 2 target men in the forwards showing and ready for action. The other 4 well i dont know what they were thinking. I wonder did Trevor or Micko know or at least that was the way it looked to me. All our defenders seemed to want to be attackers primarily. Our midfielders found little support when breaking ball down. In this instance i can understand this tactic against the good fielders of Laois .I cannot understand how MICKO could continue to see us wiped out without taking some action. OK we did have sporadic outbursts of some good play in the first half, and then collapse 4 points in second half. That has happened too often now! Only one reason for that MENTAL WEAKNESS. That clearly demonstrates a deficiency in preparation. That is most definately the responsibility of MOD and co. nobull456 (Meath) - Posts: 1227 - 15/03/2015 19:07:55 1702999 Link 0 |
We have good record v Galway too. Hammered them in portlaoise past two seasons. Match is in tuam though and it's a fortress Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 767 - 15/03/2015 19:13:53 1703007 Link 0 |
I think we have enough points in the bag to be safe as it is, but it would be an anxious wait and we would be relying on other results going the way you'd expect. Things never really go the way you'd expect in the league! We have played three of the weakest teams to date and have three of the toughest next. Right now, Cavan (not ourselves) are the dark horses for promotion. Can anybody remember the last time Meath beat any half-decent/well-organised team that get men behind the ball. So, not counting Kildare this year or Fermanagh two years ago. GlasagusOr (Meath) - Posts: 1348 - 15/03/2015 19:48:24 1703043 Link 0 |

Where have all the good Meath forwards gone? If we can't get past 15 scores in a match I'm not sure we have any business in division 1. We are not goin score heAps of goals everyday. Especially not against the top teams! greenrow (Meath) - Posts: 44 - 15/03/2015 20:10:06 1703057 Link 0 |

In addition, I for one would have regarded Meath as a team who generally this season have played well in the second half. The game last night is really worrying. To add, the teams at the top of this table Meath are yet to play. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 757 - 15/03/2015 21:06:59 1703111 Link 0 |
If we not promoted this year then I hope come wicklow game we have a new face on sideline. Enough is enough. Why put off the inevitable? Act straight after league and remove micko. foreverroyal (Meath) - Posts: 349 - 15/03/2015 21:12:51 1703119 Link 0 |

Greenwood I completely agree, I also thought the substitutions were a bit late and one or two of the substitutions didn't make sense imo. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 16/03/2015 13:24:49 1703356 Link 0 |

Good post Richieq. There is still a lot of Meath "supporters" out there who think Meath are still at the top table when they are re-building subzero (Meath) - Posts: 69 - 16/03/2015 14:19:26 1703391 Link 0 |
