I see Rooney is unlikely to play this weekend.Bit worried about our midfield, especially the fact that Laois have a strong one..

Would be good to see Meath beating a team on our merits and not relying on mistakes by opposition. Poor play by Kildare/Westmeath was main reason we won both. If we are found wanting at midfield again Laois have the forwards to punish us. Hopefully there is a plan B in place.

If Gillespie is ready woulda thought he'd get a run again Westmeath when game was in the bag

Almost positive we'll be without Rooney and Gillespie again...it'll be difficult stopping big John O'Loughlan in midfield but hoping our forwards can win the day again. I'd expect Wallace to come in for Carroll.

Nice to see O'Sullivan get a start, midfield is a major problem. I see Menton has been drafted in again to that area to help out. Can't be helping his game develop with continuous positional changes.

Very similiar team to last week and why not, Menton played midfield last week and is left there with Power and Tormey lineing out as v Westmeath.Carroll never got into the game and I think OSullivan will be a good addition. Newman is lucky to hold his place as his form is poor but who is there to replace him at the moment. I hope the frees are taken off him and given to Tormey as that may help Newman a bit. Lack of a genuine Left Footer place kick is a problem as Bray does not instill confidence at them.
Laois after a brutal start got a great win last week, Meath beat them easy last year in Portlaoise. They will come with confidence and looking for revenge and Meath need to win to keep our "second best in Leinster tag" .........Meath can do it

Laois vs. Meath was a close enough game last year. MOS has pace and is also handy enough at frees, if and when needed.

To be honest I have been very disappointed with Carroll for a few seasons, seems to lack drive.

Ya midfield is a concern as Laois are strong there, but we need to win alot more breaks otherwise the forwards will have little to go with.

Rooney,Flanagan are two young lads with potential learning the ropes at senior level but i think with Menton in midfield the added experience and strength could be key for Meath. Also Laois are poor in defence i would expect the Meath forwards to have plenty of joy tomorrow night.

not surprised damien was switched out just didn't think he was great the last day but there is something about him I like and hope to see him get a bit of form back. I too am worried about the midfield looking forward to Gillespie coming back and Rooney will hopefully work well alongside an experienced player like himself. As for Newman he seems to have lost a bit of the confidence and it is very worrying. I think we have what it takes to get past laois but I am thinking of the gaps which will be found in the squad once we come up against a better team. I know its negative but as a somebody said above I hope we have a plan B

This is one match where we need a Seamus Kenny type sweeper upper with the breaking ball around the middle to have a chance of winning. Of course we need a positive can do committed TEAM to begin with also.

The other problem is,that we are relying on Bray winning very ball going in.It could depend how well Laois play tbh

Iggy If it continues that only Bray shows for the ball we dont deserve to win. I expect that the other forwards will have been made aware of this. I expect Newman to be used as target man early on to try to get him more involved.I fully expect a big game from him . Of course that all depends on good supply from the middle .Meath to win by 4

What was just witnessed?? Meath were truly awful in the second half. Really really poor. That game should have been done and dusted at half time.

A real collapse. No midfield, pourous defence, bad decision making everywhere. That feels like a defeat.

It doesn't promote us or relegate us. But the next couple of games are away and I cannot see Meath getting results from tonight.

Very poor not an acceptable result

With the current squad we have, we won't competed with the Dublins or Kerrys. The second half display was shocking. We were 7 points up early in the second half and struggled to draw. I would have to question the management team and there ability to see games out or make good tactical decisions. Laois changed the way they played in the second half and we from what I saw just watched on. It's not like MoD and Co don't have the resources. they have the best trainers and equipment yet we still get the same results? how about for a change supply the next generation with the resources. instead of neglecting underage so the senior footballers can eat like kings in knightsbrook And stay over night in roscommon.
