Agree htaem, very fishy. As the floodlights are the newest things in the stadium. It was bloody windy v Westmeath

The floodlights!!!!!! Jesus lads of all the things in PT that we could fall down on I never thought it would be the floodlights. Again this appears to be PC gone a bit mad, how did we ever survive in county grounds in the 80's and 90's and even the 00's ?? I don't doubt you at all Roger but I do wish the county board would come out with a statement on matters like this, we not looking to be overly critical we just want to know, we all hold PT dear to our hearts and want what's best for it, if there are issues regarding its safety or development we as supporters want to know even if it's to take a few bob from our pockets to fundraise for the place, something I would have no issue doing. We were all looking forward to an All Ireland Final in PT next Saturday and the rug was pulled from under us, meaning a loss of some serious income and yet only now are we hearing a reason as to why the match was moved, keep the supporters informed and the supporters will help.

I love Pairc Tailteann as a venue. The people involved in running the facility can be clearly seen putting their heart into ensuring all little details are taken care of on match Days. It annoys me that this nonsense is directed at them on top of the enforced closing of grass banks. People have learnt to stand safely on grass banks since the stone age,This concern is likely to be equally ridiculous. Hopefully clubs will all get behind the county board and condemn this treatment.

Ashrules I agree with your comments and would add that the closure of the grass banks just goes to show the nonsense going on from adults who are given a little bit of power -even if the are health or safety guys. You can go to a Slane concert, fill 70,000 patrons with beer on grass slopes with little health & Safety problems- where is the logic in all this?

I don't think the grass banks are overly dangerous to be honest but they're not ideal and they certainly are glaring physical reminders of just how slack our county boards have been over the years. Also what does an annual (sometimes biennial) concert venue have to do with a sports stadium that's already held 7 senior inter county games in 3 months?

Listen I know you love grass, you've praised the pitch in PT many times but I love grass to, I grew up an a farm so I'm great defender of grass, also I think the smell of silage and hay is better than any fancy perfume or aftershave. So my grass loving credentials are not in doubt BUT in a football stadium I think the only grass should be on the pitch, there should be no grass terraces!

So do most of yours, I thought I'd try to speak your language in an attempt to communicate, apparently I failed.

Ok so Roger was right the official answer is floodlights, still begs the questions as to why Navan was awarded the final before a H&S check, seems like a load of aul nonsense at this stage.

The official answer may be the flood lights, but the real reason may be the playing surface!!

Ha I hope it wasn't lying there when the H&S inspector arrived out, that wouldn't look well.

They started to spend money on the pitch when they heard they were getting the u21 final, bit late resodding now, lost a fair gate there shud have listened to clubs complaining about the surface, lights i dont think so, whos to blame?

It is the lights that are the issue and it's something they've been looking to get sorted for the past while. It's a problem with the base of the poles.
