Great win for minors yesterday playing a very attractive brand of football. Very slick in first half and could have been further ahead at half time if goal chances converted though large slice of luck with deflection for our goal. Conor Nash fielded some amount of ball in first half and two wing forwards also impressive as was Thomas o Reilly free taking left or right. Game was over but they seemed to lose concentration after 45 mins and Laois got through defence to easily for their goals. I have seen them a few times this year and the switch off also happened against Louth and Dublin, and it seems to stem from trying to sit back and defend a lead and losing the dirty ball around the middle. They should have gone short for the kick outs when the Laois player was sent off rather than kicking 50/50 balls into the middle where Laois we're going well.
Ps Unusual sending off - laois lad picked up a second yellow for not having gum shield, that must be a first for an inter county match.

Yes very good result at this level, no matter what Laois do at senior they nearly always have good minor sides. The two Meath men in the middle Nash and Jones are big men, would be tough to field above them at this level. Who is the quarter final against?

The boys face Louth in Drogheda on Saturday,we should have too much for Louth..

Ziggy, Louth defeated a fancied Kildare outfit last time out in Drogheda and also won some North Leinster U-17 Tournament last year. I know we beat them in the Leinster League but I'd not read too much into that at this stage. This is potentially a very difficult game in Drogheda.

Ya I agree with you,but if this Meath side is as strong as I think it is,they should be winning this game.

Poor performance from Meath against a spirited Louth side, still, they are into the semi's,so well done to all concerned..

Louth 0-11
Meath 0-12

I believe this Meath side is good enough to win Leinster, but they will have to improve, however a game like this may well help them..

Longford, Kildare, Dublin and ourselves left. Anybody know when the draw is. I would fancy us to beat Kildare or Longford. Dubs would be close.

Probably the best way to win today
Despite a fairly average performance we did show we could win when continually putting ourselves under pressure
Has to be said that podge mcgowans display particularly in the opening half was excellent

Agree FG. Great to dig out a win like that. Podge was very good today. Forwards should have pushed up on kick outs as it was obvious that they were not going to go long. Louth CHB was excellent.

A good win yesterday in what was always going to be a very difficult game. Another tough away assingment the next day, but also a very good chance to make the final. Longford will be no pushovers but I expect us to come through in the end. Another positive with this group is that there appears to be great strength in depth in the squad, shown by the contributions of the lads that came in for yesterday as well as the substitutes.
