Roscommon v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Games have been delayed over 45 mins to allow fans time to get in to the grounds , game could of been pushed till 2 or 3 as there was ample time to allow this . Fact is Roscommon town was clear at 2.15 , but it's done now and I think a lot of fans won't travrl back there so should Mullingar be an option?

It was frustrating yesterday that the game was called off after driving down but there is simply no point giving out about Roscommon or people saying the refixture should take place either in Navan or at a neutral venue. What happened yesterday was a weather event which was not forecast and thus could not have been predicted. As it happens it affected games from the west coast to the east coast with Galway and Laois having their game in Tuam called off as was the Meath Ladies game v Westmeath in Ashbourne.

The most important this is that nobody travelling over or home had an accident in road conditions which were poor enough for driving in. I for one am looking forward to the refixture in Dr. Hyde Park which will probably be held on March 22nd.

Match called off is history now This yet again highlights the need for good mental coaching for younger payers. They were revved up for Roscommon team which was their only focus. I firmly believe they were ready ,and treated it as a Beechers Brook at this point .I believe they would have cleared that fence. The banana skin could be Westmeath match, they believe it was a much easier match to win. I am concerned that this "smaller fence" could be taken too casually, especially now that Westmeath have their tails up. Last years Dublin/Donegal springs to mind. However i hope and trust this most critical area of coaching/management will address this ,and so a Meath win on that assumption.

Game refixed for March 22nd in Hyde Park, a pity the place wasn't given an hour but what's done is done now and might just work to our advantage in the long run.

Ref and both managers inspected the pitch and agreed is was unplayable/dangerous. Don't think an hour would have made a whole lot of difference. I will treat it as a blessing in disguise, hopefully will have Gillespie and Wallace back for the 22. Plus our U21are out Wed night.
