With this game off we have two home games next,Westmeath and Laois.

Vital we win both and no excuses why we shouldn't.

What a pity the game is off. Meath were really revved up, and ready to deliver to day i reckon.

What a absolute disgrace, i am fuming beyond belief, travelled to Meath to pick up friend , drove back through Mullingar, bucketing down snow, kept daughter checking hoganstand to see if match was called off drove to ballymahon roads very bad, but from their to lanesboro it started to improve. When got to Roscommon town virtually no snow had fallen, light dusting. Parked up unloaded car not one steward to tell anyone game was off, people arriving, the next thing got a phone call to say match was off, some what could only be called not too bright sparks on way in asked them what was story they said it was off, it was up to people walking out to tell those walking in game was called off. Shame on Roscommon gaa, for having no people to inform those arriving game had been called off, shame on those involved in Hyde park for not calling it off earlier, and shame on Roscommon cb, for having such a bad pitch that a tiny flurry of snow could make it unplayable, ive complained about pt facilities for awhile but by jasus at least the pitch is in good condition. Roscommon gaa have let down their supporters today and also their players they showed no respect or courtesy to Meath players or the travelling support. IM absolutely fuming.

RD - agreed the whole set up was a joke. From athlone onwards it looked unlikely there would be a game, but nothing on the radio so we headed on. There was a big thaw on and if they had changed the fixture to 2:00 I think there would have been no problem playing the game. Third visit to Hyde park and second time there was no game.

well lads i too cannot understand why it wasnt put back till 2 or even 3 o clock.soCb have spent a small fortune on overnight stay, allow roscommn to change the time for the rugby and now this .pretty sad if you ask me .ive seen u-12 play in worse . we should look for the game to be in navan

I think the county board should complain. Also if they were calling it off it should have been off earlier.

That was it, all they had to do was change throw in time to 2 o'clock, it was obvious the thaw was taking hold. I spent 50e on diesel today and another 40 on food, now i don't mind that one bit, Meath football is my passion and ive brainwashed the kids the same, so i expect to hand that out and if a game was called off due to legitimate reason id suck it up and say well that cant be helped. But this could have been helped, move it to kiltoom, which was no snow on way home, or defer throw in, . Even a Roscommon lad that had came from carrick i think apologised to me and said that ground is a disgrace. Why did they leave it so late? And even worse why not just put back time just to see, im still fuming over this, its been 3 weeks since a game and to miss out on one after traveling in those conditions for nothing when a game could have been held is a absolute disgrace.

I presume the match was called after a pitch inspection by the match referee as is normal. In that case its hardly 100% Roscommons fault.

If the game had not been brought forward at the behest of Roscommon cb to accommodate the rugby it would have passed a pitch inspection for 2.
Demand this rearranged fixture is either in navan or a neutral ground.
IM a season ticket holder and go to all games if humanely possible but by jaysus i wont set foot in that place again for a football match. Disgrace is all it is. Meath cb should look for their expenses back.

Granted though its very annoying and could surely have been played later

Well Royaldunne you were one of those that wanted the game played in Hyde park i told you before the game it would be better to play in it Kiltoom for a number of reasons. Didn't start snowing until about 1030am the Ref was the man that called it off at 1205 but thats the Hyde pitch a lottery if any games goes ahead. Anyway whats done is done now and you lads can now focus on our neighbours Westmeath though i doubt you will be on their site as much as you were on our page the last few weeks.

I assumed that sone sort of drainage was in the Hyde. Absolute disgrace.
If you cant hold a match in your county use McHale park or salthill.
Ive seen u12 games held in lot worse conditions.

Royaldunne, you seem to be using the whole fiasco to have a go at Roscommon in general. It's almost personal sounding. It's the ref who called the game off. Now I feel sorry for fans who travelled from Meath only to be turned away again, but to lay all the blame at our door is a bit harsh. And demanding the game be played in Navan or a neutral ground is ridiculous. It was a pain in the backside, but these things happen.

It is frustrating alright, but I would not blame Roscommon.
