Mod talks bout young unexpierenced team, I seem to remember a team that owon an All Ireland with 7 players U21, and only 2 players on the panel over 6feet tall. And thats not a fairy tale!

Forglory I imagine MOD will be putting his energies into creating and maintaining teamwork and team spirit. He may be at the point now where he knows that these silly excuses for lack of progress in div 2 football are not good enough. I give him the benefit of the doubt, and expect him to finally deliver clear evidence of progress THIS year with promotion to div i . Realistically THAT particular objective IS achievable..Sam? Oh well that is a horse of a different colour indeed !!

Nobull surely at this stage team spirit and teamwork should have been achieved, after all he is in his third year. To be still looking for those particular attributes in the team speak of a disjointed team with low morale and lack of belief in tactics and systems of play. I hope for a win on sunday but nothing so far this year fills me with confidence. We dont seem to travel well.

Lads realistically if we going to do anything under mod we should be winning against the likes of Roscommon, i have faith he will show what we are about.

That is te biggest thing for me there is a definate lack of belief an morale in this squad.Imo team selection does matter a lot, what concerns me the most is the habit of playing players were they are not naturally at their best and the constant moving around of players.

Ziggy sometimes the switching of players work, just look at both G Geraghty and Brendan O Reilly. Sometimes it doesnt C King for example. I agree that MOD doesnt seem to know his best team and their positions yet and that is a daming inditment of his management, but there again maybe he doesnt have the players available to fit the positions and is trying to make square pegs into round holes! Anyway best of luck to the lads on sunday, Im sure they will give everything to the cause.

Forglory. No humble pie for you man, you just stating what most expect, i am hoping you wrong though, i don't believe we as bad as we were against Galway or for that matter Kildare for 50 minutes, and this is the perfect time to show that after a 3 week break, and a few lads should be more sharper and physically up for this match . Now one thing that is worrying me is free 45s etc, i believe they should be left to one individual unless he is injured or otherwise removed from play, if you have this lad for that one and another from another it adds confusion and lack of confidence, let one take them only.

RD Like you optimism: but it was not just a bad day against Galway and 50 mins against Kildare before that a very bad day against Armagh and Dublin, ok beat a very poor Kildare but were a bit of a shambles (agreed we won easily in end) against Carlow, and some woeful performances in last years league. Apart from that things looking good. We live in hope

Its clear that really we generally seem to be all saying the same thing. We seem to be all HOPEFUL but not too much confidence regarding progress this year. This no doubt is based on performance levels for last 2 years. So like night follows day we have to turn the corner soon. I think Sunday will be that day when all players give it everything for the jersey, and also for MOD who by all accounts is a gentleman on and off the pitch.[ Just recall Eamon Dunphy's famous quote " so he is a decent skin! but so what has that to do with football management"?] Forecast for sunday... A Meath win by a few points, and a lot of humble pie to be devoured including myself who will do so with relish !!

When you have more bad displays than good, you would have to expect Roscommon to beat us

ZIGGY That is logical and factual of course. Think we have turned the corner though. Next sunday we may very well take up from where we finished against Kildare. Yes there is a lot of HOPE there rather than confidence.

Very few have been more critical of Meath and management than myself over the last year, but like nobull said we have to believe that he knows what he is doing. If not then his whole appointment has to be questioned in particular when his opposite on sideline was a member of the other option available to the selection committee. I have hope and indeed faith that this will be put right, or else we will be starting from scratch again after a wasted 3 years, and not all the blame can be placed on mod, the selection members and county board would have to answer why they put him in the position. So with all that in mind in keeping the faith and saying this is the game when it all comes right

If we are beaten on sunday I think we should be careful in our reaction. I would have supported MOD appointment I thought he was the best man for the job with the best backroom team.We might have to face the reality that we dont have the players at the moment to fulfill our potential and not just blame the management team afterall if lads dont do their specific roles or take the right options thats hardly all MOD fault. I still think he was the right appointment. BTW is sean kelly still involved I havent seen much of him this year.

What evidence is there to suggest that we have turned a corner? The last 15 mins of the Kildare game were we played decent against a team who were rubbish but still could have won the game?

I remember thinking at the time that Graham Geraghty should have got the job.

Ziggy that was my opinion at the time too. I felt he would take no bull off the players and would insist on pride and passion. But also his backroom team of Evans and jody D. But after mod was appointed i fully supported his tenure. Only time will tell if it was right.
