Wouldn't mess too much with midfield, either Flanagan or Rooney should partner Gillespie, also not sure about Shane as a starter, think better used as sub . Osullivan i think is out for year unfortunately

I hear Gillespie will be on the bench for Roscommon, which is good news, Kevin wont be back until championship id say and even then its hard to know.

It seems a lot of our good players are injured for the best part of the year. Maybe Im being bias, but I cant see other teams being as hampered. When you take Shane O Rourke and Kevin Reilly are almost never around for league. Also the 2 O Sullivans, Brian Meade, Eamonn Wallace and Conor Gillispie have had their fair share. The above mentioned would make a lot of county teams,if not panels. Are we doing something wrong at training level? It only became apparant when I look at our league team versus our championship team, there is huge difference in both. I find it so frustrating as we are aiming to win the league to be competitive in Division 1, but every year were down our best players before a ball is thrown in!

Well meade retired (prematurely Imo ) Kevin has been injured on and off for a number of years, hopefully this op will be the end of it, Gillespie is a huge loss, and if im been honest i think shanes hips have left him a shadow of the player he could have been.

Don't think its peculiar to Meath teams, the type of knee and hip injury
suffered by GAA players, can in a lot of case be down to the type of sport they play, jumping/turning quickly (lot of stress on joints) sprinting and style of kicking in GAA

Kevin Reilly may have been too brave for his own good, often played through the injury. Hopefully will be back for championship, one of our only on field leaders over last few years

Think your being optimistic Rd. Roscommon are showing good form while we are still very patchy. Would settle for a performance of Direction and good attitude to see whether we can follow up from the game against kildare. I think thats more important long term than 2 points.

Forglory, nothing is more important than 2 points Imo. Are we content with another league failure? I am not, and anything other than promotion is a failure. We cant be content with mediocrity, if mod was the right choice for this job we have to be promoted. IM not havin a go at you and i know what you are saying, but nothing less than a victory against a team who just got promotion from div3 and are at best the third rated team in Connaught should do a team who are in third year under current management, if we are progressing we will win, if we not we won't.

Roscommon are the best side in the division without question.

RD agree with what you are saying but I think going from zero to heros in one game is too much for this team. Agree with you on MOD 3rd year we should be pushing from promotion but I think Roscommon are making more progress than us at the moment> They also have a number of players coming through from the successful U21 teams and minor team from a number of years ago where as we dont. Dont mean to rain on your parade you make a lot of valid points but I just cant see us winning there.Hopefully I am proved wrong though.

Haven't seen enough improvement to suggest we'll win this so coupled with our poor away record I suspect we'll lose. Hope I'm wrong

Forglory you make very valid points, but this team struggled a draw against Cavan, are they better than us too? . Look ive decided to not be as negative as i was, after dubs last year then that terrible game v Armagh (the most haphazard management and player performance i seen in 40 years) add to that the Galway game i was livid , but i have to believe that management know what they are doing, and if mod doesn't want people to say we should have given john Evans the job then i think we have to win. Ive put all my negative energy in a box, and if mod wants to prove he has done anything right in his tenure i think we will win. IM not giving up just yet, but a loss in the Hyde would all but end or promotion hopes, so in banking on a win (hopefully)

royaldunne I absolutely agree with your asessment. If we are to say we have are making progress ,then we should be winning against Roscommon. After all they are also a young side . We have to get promotion this year. As a Meath supporter i am not prepared to accept another repeat of last year's rubbish. Ok we are not playing the big boys yet,so a win against div.2 teams is not too much to expect.Yes we are not overloaded with talent at present, but to get promotion is only are start. We are not talking about winning Sam. After 2 years promotion is a must with no more excuses accepted. I do think Meath SHOULD win and SHOULD get promoted

I cant wait to come on to this sunday afternoon and Monday and see what you havce to say.Not an ounce of sence have you spoken and i am certain Roscommon will beat ye comfortably. There are only 4 of 5 meath players that would make the roscommon team.Rielly POR and maybe two defenders but ye would be able to live with them. They beat Cork with onlt four players that played against down in last leaugue game and cork had 12 the team that beat monaghan playing.although Roscommon have only come up from divison 3 they are still a year or two ahead of ye in terms of been ready for Divison one football
