Roscommon v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This game is very winnable especially in Hyde , lot more open pitch will leave rossies a difficult job trying to contain some of our lads biggy tormey and menton could have a field day, add to that Newman should have came on a lot after 2 games and a break , id expect a different Meath from what we've seen already . Expecting huge game and of course a win. Time to put down a marker.

Royaldunne, I don't think menton has done a whole lot wrong to be dropped? Do you have any reason for this?

Harnan has not impressed me at all whenever he has played. No way would I play him or Tobin corner back, they would get turned very easily... Sean Curran played very well for Ash the other day,a bhuge pity he won't play for Meath under O'Dowd, similar to Alan Forde that scenario..

For the record I would go with..

POR
Keoghan
McGill
Dalton
Menton
Burke
Tobin
Flanagan
Rooney
Biggy
Tobin
Tormey
S.Bray
Newman
E.Wallace(if right)

If not Wallace I would go with McMahon, but let him play off Newman..

Can anyone clarify where this match is due to be played ? My understanding is that the game is fixed for Kiltoom (max capacity about 4,000) but I have seen other posts referencing Hyde Park

Expecting too much for Wallace to start after so long out, few runs out as sub first. If he was fit, should have started for his club, get a bit of game time. Either way good to see him back

The game was originally fixed for Kiltoom but is now moved back to the Hyde. Think it was fixed for Kiltoom as the pitch in Hyde is poor this time of year but the dry February has obviously helped

Look lets call a spade a spade. We all know there is a underlying issue here, micko v Evans. I think its pretty safe to say it was a close run thing between gg and Evans and micko and Kelly, micko and Sean shaded it. Evans wants to show Meath cb and particularly the selection process that they made the wrong decision now the last time mod came out on top, but Evans will want revenge, Time will tell, but this is more than a league match, time for mod to stand up and prove those that put their trust in him that they were correct

In fairness Evans was a big help when he was brought in to "assist" Banty. In many ways it is a pity he cannot do the same job for us now! Maybe we do not need him?? It remains to be seen whether MOD and CO have learned enough about building a competitive TEAM with all the elements required for progress.. Confidence, Spirit and determination, following a team plan, etc.etc. I dont think anyone could dispute that we have been very weak in those areas as a team. However, perhaps the appropriate help has been drafted in ,and in that case maybe things could be looking up. If we continue as we have for last year then it is reasonable to expect the same outcome. Not too concerned about what players are picked to do the job for next match. I am much more concerned that the players know how that job is to done ,and that everybody is ready physically and MENTALLY for the task. Something tells me they will be ! Meath to win !!!
