Meath v Kildare

jack - nobody minds any halfbacks going forward and scoring and I would think it is necessary in the present game (and in the past as well), but what does concerns many is guys going forward and forgetting, or not able to get back and defend! Playing half forwards as defenders generally never works at county level and we do not have many of the calibre that you have mentioned.

Missed Mick O'Dowd's interview last week as stayed on in Galway for a bit. I heard that he apologised to the fans for the performance. Yet he goes out and basically picks the same team with one exception being O'Sullivan. That why I am a bit surprised at the selection and can only conclude that he genuinely believes that this is his best team. I wouldn't agree but will give him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.

Come on the Royal.

He also said in the paper this week "I am at a loss with that display"

Problem is,I think that is genuine..

It seems that it is only a certain amount of times that you can go to the well so to speak. Can't fault the effort but when you cannot compete then serious questions need to be asked.
Changing managers is not the answer. Banty did bring a new approach to the set up. Would have changed mind sets if given a chance. Dowd who is a nice guy will soon fall by the sword like a lot before him.

royaldunne HERE HERE TO THAT......lOOKING forward to being there to support a new Meath TEAM where every ball is contested. Where our defenders remember their primary role, kildare forwards are so closely attended that they have little room to shoot, and if they do the shot is blocked frequently.where we will not have an over reliance on handpassing, where ball will be delivered in to our attackers swiftly,.where we will always have a fleet footed forward in support of our stronger players Where our forwards will not be afraid to shoot for scores if best placed. Wides will be forgiven in those circumstances. Lack of effort certaintly wont.
Players remember you have our total support WE HAVENT GONE AWAY YOU KNOW ! just that we still love our footbal,we do tend to get very frustrated if we think you are not playing to full potential. Nevertheless we admire ye for the time you spend on our behalf.Maybe even a little jealous because ye have the honour of wearing the jersey. You know we will be with ye every step of the way as supporters. Please give it everything, and the result will take care of itself You know its not rocket science ATTITUDE plus basic footballing skills which yo all have anyway NOW lets see positive approach and determination, and you can win this one. Best of luck!! p. s. MOD We are with you all the way at this time !!

For some reason I cannot see us winning this game, but hopefully I'm proved wrong.

Barney123 On form this year up to now yes a win for us would be unlikely...no doubt ! We must turn the corner sometime. Just have a hunch that the players[i believe some read this forum] are revved up for a major kickback. This may very well be the day when that begins ,and when we have every chance to win against the odds. Remember we are playing another div 2 team who are not world beaters either!! ATTITUDE will decide it !!

That Kildare forward line will destroy our full back line, very nervous about that..

We are vulnerable in every line unless we have the right attitude ,and sideline reads the play quickly.....still think we can win this one, but it wont be easy!

Really poor performance, particularly from our forwards. Losing to a poor Kildare side at home is a not a great sign. The midfielder's are a good prospect but to put them in together is unfair and is not helping the team. Just not good enough. Disappointing overall.

Come on meath! What a win in the end. Delighted with result but still serious problems. No game plan let alone a back up plan. A few players that I am still wondering if they still have the legs for the game. Some good defending at times but free taking not good enough and not enough people up there looking for the ball.

great to see the lads battle back and tough it out, not pretty but out fought kildare. Defended well in patches but need to find a way to get full forward line involved quicker. Great to see Wallace back, nothing to get excited about but a good solid win.

We got the result but another woeful performance.

Only positive for me is that I think this one was won on the line.
