Meath Hurlers

Agree entirely. Support isn't measured by forum posts. I think it all stems back to the lack of support by the county board, which has annoyed a lot of the clubs and hurling people in meath, a blind man can see the penny pinching going on at every level of hurling in meath. Firstly by appointing Martin Ennis who wasn't even nominated for the job, to run a team on a budget on the county boards terms.

Was talking to a few meath hurlers since the game saturday and the lads didn't even get gear for the final, county board would't even pay for a bus to mullingar and management are doing nothing. Doubt paddy kelly or any other manager would stand for that. It's not until hurling clubs make their voice heard and demand a better service from their county board will the players and supporters come out to represent the county

Last post, if players have no gear is that not what the GPA is there for to help them, i was at all league matches and they pushed kildare all the way without burke ,clynch marsh, gannon heavey and fagan not fully fit,so talk about hurling or go to another forum, btw kildare didnt get a bus either is that the kildare managements fault ?

I'm pretty sure it would be someone in the county board that would order gear not the GPA. I know all that is in material and has no bearing on how the team performs but it did have the few players I spoke with disappointed with the set up.

It's just a shame hurling isn't backed the way it should at county board level. I think the most disappointing thing from a hurling point of view is the potential in the county at the minute, I feel that with the right structure and personnel in place meath could be competing at the top of 2A with Kerry and Westmeath and beyond. Be great to see a high profile outside manager come in and give meath hurling a boost.

All that been said, I'd like to see all hurling people come out and get behind the team for the christy ring, Kildare must be nailed on as favorites and to only lose by 5 points must be something that meath can build on. Great to see fagan in, would love to see few others (particularly the kiltale lads) come in and give it a right go.

Is jack fagan apart of the squad now? If so its only about time! Fine young hurler with bags on pace and scoring ability, some scoring power with Regan, Douglas, Fagan, Conneely and so on!

Fagan is on the panel, played in the league final too. Conneeley left the panel a few weeks ago from what I've heard.
