If team is known it should be announced. No need for messing.

Which is why I think they are holding off due to possible injury.

Team picked..Happy enough with it.Best of luck to the new lads and great to see 2 new guys at mid-field we need competition in this area.Hope
Conor McGill does well at 3 his chance one to grab the jersey..bit disappointed to see Mickey Burke in at 4 I'm afraid the lad is very limited at this level
especially come summer time when the ante is upped.we badly need a couple of backs

Really not too concerned about who is picked to play on Sunday. I do accept that MOD and selectors are better placed than we are to evaluate who merits selection. They see the training etc. we dont ,so i accept their verdict on who starts. However i do NOT accept inadequate team preparation..NO allowances there this year! 2 year apprenticeship over !

Thought Bray was well off the pace the last day. Surprised to see him start to be honest.

What's with the subsitution of Sean Tobin? Heard he performed well in the opening games this year

blind ref- One of the defenders conceded 1-2 last day out and it was not Burke!. I think that finally the have seen the light and played Keoghan at CB, although on either side of him the defenders have to prove themselves (judging by past 2 years). On the positive Galway are not world and this match in beginning of Feb is not going to make or break the season.
Bert - you are surprised to see the best forward from last year start- I am surprised that you are surprised!. Anyway the very best of luck to all involved and here's hoping that nobody gets injured and everyone gives their best.

Happy enough with the selection, I'm glad MOD is taking a chance and trying McGill out at fullback, Menton can be worth a few points to us at 7 with a bit more freedom. The only real surprise for me is Bray at 11, unless there's something wrong with Carroll I would have expected him to start because Bray looked well off the pace against Dublin and he doesn't really tend to show up till the summer anyway.

Menton is a good player who did not have a great year last year, but I am not sure about Harnan(although still very young),our full back line could be dodgy,McGill very inexperienced,Burke is poor at corner back and Tobin is a good wingback.
I think we will lose this one,Galway have a very strong midfield and ours lacks experience.Still the right thing to play the two lads with Gillespie out.Half forward line is good, but Bray rarely performs in the league.A bit worried Newman may get isolated,as both Wallace and McMahon tend to come out the field and could do with them scoring a few more.Look it is a very young side to say the least,I think Galway will edge it.

Ziggy - I also think Menton is a good player and I would like to see getting a try where he has played most or all of his club underage football-CF or MF and he is accurate. I think he was moved around too much last year and that is not good for any player

Only surprise for me too is bray, he was shocking against dubs and last year during league was absent, only in championship did he come good.
And to play him in such a physically demanding role as 11?? Have to wait and see , but Carroll must be injured otherwise in sure hed have started.
Anyway best of luck to all the team. Im already in Galway and if what's been said to me about their half backs is true graham Reilly could have a field day.

I would share a few of those concerns aswell ziggy, our defence in particular doesn't look great bar Keogan and Tobin, but McGill (inexperienced) and Menton (in a more comfortable position) hopefully can come good. Harnan does need to pull the socks up though, he didn't have a spectacular year last year but he's still young aswell.

It's hard to know how centrefield up is going to perform but hopefully Bray will switch with Wallace or McMahon otherwise Newman could end up isolated, hopefully Flanagan and in particular Rooney can keep up the good work and win us enough ball to get over the line but Galway is a tough place to go and win so I'd hesitate to tip us.

Well it begins. The most important meath football year in over a decade. Gal kildare and us have to be the main teams in for promotion. These two games are the begining or end of promotion hopes. Win both and we have to be in the shake up, get beat in one or both and we in relegation battle.
I'm not too worried about team, with galway missing at least 8 maybe 10 first team players we should win with the lads we have. But if management aint got them up to speed we won't. This game will be won and lost on the sideline not on paper cause we have the better players if sideline has learnt anything we will win. If same as last two years well then its back to drawing board.
