No doubt when Reilly is in the mood he is fantastic, can he move up a level and perform when it really counts, hopefully he can.. Would love to hear opinions from someone at the game.. It seemed McGill and Judge did ok? How did Flanagan and Roooney do? Did Menton play at 6 when introduced?

Great to get home early from a game :)
Biggy was outstanding and more importantly alot leaner than last year. Menton was excellent when he came on as was keoghan bray finished well after biggys great vision. Was very impressed with judge (kept gleenon out of game) and Flanagan did well too.
Good start but we needed the big guns to come forward to win it. Strength in depth is what's needed from now on.
Well done to all concerned, great crowd at match first half was a non event from both teams with the exception of Reilly and judge. Second half was a great game .

Doitmyqay. Must have been at a differnt game than me. Judge was very tight on glennon (now ok maybe its early but he still a top class player glennon)
Menton played in haveback/ midfield area. Sean tobin worked hard all day. , made a few errors but certainly worth another look at.

Neil Shorthall from Curraha looked like a player with plenty of ability today , who knows anything about him .

I was very impressed with the full back line. Would have liked to have see more of Brennan and Judge but they both got yellow cards and were withdrawn at HT. Don't think Flanagan and Rooney can be in the same team. They're useful but are both too immobile to have on the pitch at the same time. Biggy played very well. It wasn't as if the scores were handed to him on a plate. He had to work quite hard for them. Keogan, Tobin and Menton steadied the ship. Joey Wallace also played well around the half forward line. He turned over possession when Westmeath were breaking and this led to the goal.

As regards Judge, I thought he had it tough in the early stages but settled down when Glennon went off injured.

First half was very much a first week of January game, very very pedestrian but we upped it a lot in the second half and never really looked like losing after we equalized. The best of the young players for me was Adam Flanagan which won't come as a huge surprise to Meath fans, he made a number of very good catches and should be given plenty more games to build up his experience. Most of the other young players didn't really stand out as anything special to be honest but there's no harm in trying a few more before the league starts.

No doubt though that Biggy was the best player on the pitch by a mile, his second half performance in particular was impressive, Menton came on and made an impact aswell playing around the middle and got a couple of nice scores, Queeney was alright but will have to do more to keep his place on the panel.

I would have thought Flanagan and Rooney would not suit to play together, but perhaps O'Dowd wants to see which one of the two can perform better.Still like the idea of Menton in the middle with Gillespie,Menton has great mobility.

Markmywords. I actually thought the opposite:)regarding judge. As they say funny old game.
The guy from curraha was actually very good. On a side note the ticketing in cusack park was terrible as was the traffic and people management .
Was the crowd that much more than expected? What was it 3000?

Like I said, we need to see more of him. Not ruling him out at all. Brennan impressed me more though. Flanagan is also a better option than Rooney. He has that little bit more experience as well which helps of course. Menton added pace in the middle which was absent in the first half. McGill was rock solid and should be full back when the league kicks off.

Good one ziggy :). Yeah its way too early to call. But he could fill a space in that backline. Yep still a little green but potential is there.
Graham Reilly had one of those games. Every score was worked for made a couple of others including goal. He tackled furiously and was throwing himself at shots in backline. Great performance, but i hope he keeps it up until championship. If so we have a real chance. But alot can happen between now and then.

It is simple with Reilly,we all know he has the talent, but definate and fair question marks regarding his temperment once the going gets tough.A few people may have had serious words with him,it is up to him now, because he does have the talent.
