Player of the year

Have to agree re Peadar Byrne.

McKeigue is an excellent defender no doubt but he also plays for a club with massive playing resources who rightfully are expected to win the senior championship every year.

Peadar Byrne, on the other hand, has led Ballinlough from out of nowhere to winning the Intermeditate championship and having a good run in Leinster. I had the pleasure of seeing him play this year in a Div 2 A League match with nothing much up for grabs and his athleticism and desire simply something to behold.

Without doubt, he offers something to Meath whether as a sub or starter. But sure we all know thats he, and the likes of Cian Ward etc won't be picked by Meath managemement as apparently they are too old, not 100m sprinters etc (how many of the Donegal and Kerry teams in this years All Ireland final were over 30 years old...quite a few!!)

No doubt the Ratoath players don't deserve to be there eh Crinigan? What with the fact that they "still can't get out of Intermediate".

Congratulations to Andrew Tormey who was announced as Club na Mí Player of the Year yesterday. He had a very good breakthrough season. Lets hope he kicks on next year.

Jack just want to second that. As the fate of last two winners was not so good (Brian Farrell and Brian Meade) hopefully he will not suffer similar problems. Congrats and well deserved.

although the list was very short ,Tormey was without a question of doubt the most improved player on the Meath panel and i hope he can inspire a few more to realising that something extra is required in order to be in the top end of intercounty football ,well done Andrew ,the Donegal game was one of his finest
