Strong midfield and forward line looks decent but the full back line is a concern. Same line that shipped five goals against Kerry in the Hastings Cup. I'd have Power at full back, played well there for DIT against Wexford and Wicklow in the O'Byrne Cup, and move McEntee to six with Harnan at seven.

Westmeath have a decent team with 5-6 lads seeing action for the seniors in the O'Byrne Cup/League. Meath by 1-3 pts.

Ziggy, he's an excellent prospect in both football and hurling. Surprised to see him at full back though. Would have thought a more experienced player would have filled that role.

Was at the match Outstanding display by Flanagan ,and best player on the pitch by a mile. Eamonn Wallace getting back to match fitness, and our best forward. Overall poor enough team performance, and yet again an indicator of low standard of football in the county at present. Westmeath a very mediocre team at best. For the seniors apart from the 2 above certainly no other player has nailed a place based on last nights performance

Rooney and Kennelly both injured, not sure how bad Rooney's injury is but I'd be hopeful he'll be back for Saturday night. As for the game in truth it was poor and we will have to improve massively in the next two weeks to account for Kildare/Offaly but on the plus side it was great to see Eamonn Wallace back and in form along with good displays from Flanagan and Collins too! Backs are worrying though with full back line in particular poor but at least we're in the last 4!

Was at the game last night and agree with Nobull it was poor enough game and Meath had Hannigan to thank for an excellent point blank save at the death to deny Westmeath a goal which would surely have snatched what would have been an undeserved victory from the jaws of defeat. Flannagan the stand out player with Wallace showing glimpses of his exceptional talent which bodes well for the future as he gets more games. Joey was poor enough and substituted in the second half. Cannot understand why he and so many of the Meath players at this grade and indeed Senior put the head down to run with the ball as soon as they get possession. Nobody seems to look up anymore to see if the quick ball is on. Very frustrating to look at.

Joey never really got involved in the game last night, he tried hard as always but his confidence has certainly taken a knock by being thrown in at the deep end with the senior team. Really good example of this came about five minutes into the second half last night when he got possession about 30 yards from goal with plenty of open space on front of him and he just shot immediately and saw his shot from on front of the posts go wide, it was a panic reaction and a long way from the outstanding minor of two years ago who was a very accurate forward. He has a great attitude and will come back when his confidence is restored and along with Eamonn will be a huge asset to the senior county team in the years ahead. Overall our forwards were very poor last night with only Eamonn Wallace and Ruairi O'Coileain getting on the scoreboard, great to see Eamonn back with a great workrate while O'Coileain impressed as a playmaker !

Joey Wallace was taken off ....Did not appear to be injured......I was looking for a no 6 for the seniors ,and did not see one at this match....Early days yet Could Adam Flanagan be our new John Mc Dermott? What a pleasure to see such wonderful high fielding.

Great to see E Wallace back and scoring, I don't mean to be too harsh on Joey but he doesn't seem to be near the standard of his older brother, not yet anyway but hopefully he can prove me wrong, good to hear Flanagan playing well, we could have some really good options around the middle with Rooney and Gillespe coming back.

This the concern I had with Joey Wallace.Should not have been brought into the panel and very late last year.

a mention has to be given to Brian Power who put in a good performance, after start of the second half he went in on Shane Dempsey at corner back and stopped him as he was the one player who was really hurting us up until then . it wont be long until he is nailing down a starting spot on senior team
padraic Harnan had a good game also o caiolan but MOTM Adam Flanagan

Id have to agree with others regarding joey Wallace. Great prospect but his confidence is shot by been thrown into seniors when clearly he was not ready . A blind man could see this . Why couldn't mod?

I was talking to a colleague involved in meath u21 who said that joey has been carrying a harmstring injury the last two weeks and he seemed to pull up last night, id agree to say he lacks confidence but should get it back
