Fair dues to Ballinlough, they are a breath of fresh air to Meath football. They play a Wexford team away in the semis now. Also well done to St Patrick's hurlers on their big win. So a 100% record for Meath clubs in Leinster so far, lets hope the good run continues this week.

O'Mahonys and Cortown are both up against it but you never know. Kiltale look to be our banker of the weekend. Win that and they play the Kilkenny champions or Kildare champions Coill Dubh who are managed by Paddy Kelly!

Terrible from nom. Said before county final that this may happen. Very disappointing.

Problem is that the likes of Rhode win their championship on a consistent basis.Meath clubs don't really do that,as a result, they tend to be happy with just winning the Meath Champ..

It is not a poor reflection on a NOM team or Meath football.
Standard of football was excellent. It was very close al the way through until NOM had to chase the game. They missed two kickable frees and 2 wides. Rhode responded with a goal and a point.
The weakness which has caused them trouble all year is the full back line. They push up high and press high as a team which leaves them vulnerable at 2 3 4. Rhode left Aton Sullivan (Fantastic Baller) and Niall McNanmee in. Eventually them two will score and that is what happened.
I would have thought the managers would have altered sightly from the final. Don Ash exposed this weakness but can you blame managers for trying to play fast attacking high pressure football??? I wouldn't but they did come up short

Meath2010. Rhode are not one of the best club this year. The offally final was shocking. I think its a bad reflection on club football in Meath. And even with 14 men that is some margin of vvctory. Yes whether we like it or not its a poor reflection on the county at the minute.

I would agree with you Meath2010, the 9 point defeat for Navan is not a fair result. They were the better team for most of the game. However, they didn't give they're full back line much cover. Once Rhode got by their midfield they were straight into they're full back line who were badly exposed hence the 4 goals. On a positive note Stephen Bray was superb and kicked a few super points and his work rate is outstanding for a guy getting well into his 30s. I'm quite sure Navan would have won had Kevin Reilly been fit and I'm sure that's what will be disappointing them tonight.

royaldunne -you were obviously not at the match-the guy was sent of with about 5-6mins to go. I would agree in the main with Meath2010, the match was entertaining being played in a sporting manner with very little pulling or dragging. There was nothing between the side with 10-12 minutes to go with NOM missing 3-4 good point scoring chances (missed two frees almost directly in front of goals 20 yards out during that period). What did surprise me was how open the middle of defence was, just like the county final when two goals were scored. On the issue of Rhode I do not know how good they are. However, a couple of years back they were very unlucky to be beaten by Kil Crokes (with their goalkeeper being pushed over the line for both goals),Crokes went on to win the All-Ireland that year.

I dont normally stand up for NOMs but the amount of rubbish on this site is really dissappointing.

Rhode are a top club team and anyone that knows anything about football would know this. I would suggest they have a better full forward line than St Vincents which takes some doing. Crokes were extremely lucky to beat them and they got to 2 Lenister finals in a row.
The Rhode team of 2014 is not as good as the team that played the Crokes but still extremely strong club team.

Ref gave really poor penatly to Rhode when NOMs were playing the best football I ve seen from them, they faded at midfield and relied on Stephen Bray as there only key danger man, expected more from Forde but defo will make meath team in 2015.

It's pity for NOM's they dont have their full compliment of players fit, Shane McKEIGUE, Ward and Kevin Reilly should be still playing top club football, but unfortunately for them this will never happen.

I think NOM's really have missed out here if they had to get their act together 4-5 years ago when in my opinion were totally complacent in losing championships to teams of far less quality.

I actually work with a couple of lads from Rhode and they have said all year that this is one of the poorest side that they have had in recent times, anyone who is totally honest (very few around) would say likewise about O mahoney's too

cowardlyasafox - We have all worked with guys like that! and some of them would pick out the weaker players and say how excellent they were-whats new!. There are a lot of experts around! Rhode won 7 out of the last 11 championships and 3 out of the last 5. By my standards that is good and I'm not sure what barometer some posters are working to.
