Meath play Kildare in Kilcock this evening,I would imagine both sides will play players not involved in the panels last year,to be honest, not sure what the point of playing such a match this time of year. Not as if players will be getting a run out against actual county players. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 16/10/2014 10:59:46 1664190 Link 0 |

Think the game was a draw,but I am more interested in who was given a chance.. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 17/10/2014 19:28:02 1664801 Link 0 |
looking at the amount of injuries over the last 2 years our lack of physical strength and poor fitness levels .Question , Is Colm Brady up to the job of training a county team . mmc (Meath) - Posts: 266 - 25/10/2014 20:42:22 1667189 Link 0 |

i agree.. time for another fitness/strength coach to have a try, bring new ideas as it seems to have gone very stale, and physically we dont seem to be up to the mark!! sob (Meath) - Posts: 492 - 26/10/2014 10:24:49 1667239 Link 0 |
Well considering they have already started there S&C program's there is no chance of a new S&C coach coming in this season. I do agree that this Meath team is not fit enough and are physically way off the pace compared to Mayo, Donegal, Dublin, Kerry etc. Also on a separate note 6 players have been dropped from the Meath Panel for the coming season. Paddy Gilsenan, Donal Lenihan and Bobby O'Brien are 3 of the 6 gone. I am unaware of the names of the other three and I don't want to guess so I won't try. Really makes NO difference who is on or off the panel. Without ANY doubt this year ALL problems stemmed from poor management. Those major problems were 1..poor fitness levels 2...poor teamwork 3... lack of team spirit [from all bar 3 players ] 4....poor tactics....etc.etc. Worst of all... NO learning from mistakes as the year moved on nobull456 (Meath) - Posts: 1224 - 26/10/2014 16:43:05 1667302 Link 0 |
Nobull would agree with that statement. And I have to say I too am worried. Gilsennan was a great prospect when he started but after injury never regained that initial prospect. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 26/10/2014 17:29:12 1667315 Link 0 |
To be fair to management,I agree with them in terms of the 3 lads being dropped.. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 27/10/2014 11:52:13 1667427 Link 0 |

In the last couple of years, we've being going through a long overdue spell of transition which seemed to interrupt proceedings a lot. I believe that this coming year should bring with it a little more stability. The 3 lads dropped were on the periphery of the panel so I wouldn't expect massive disruption in terms of team selection etc. I always thought that Bobby and Donal had great potential but maybe they were lacking in the workrate department which Micko doesn't appreciate as we know. Gilsenan's workrate could never be questioned however, but after breaking on to the panel a few years back, he never really developed as a player. This wasn't helped by injuries of course. Good addition to the back room team with Ciaran McDonagh, I think management are doing everything that people seem to be looking for in terms of additions on and off the field Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3734 - 31/10/2014 12:34:05 1668621 Link 0 |
