Meath play Kildare in Kilcock this evening,I would imagine both sides will play players not involved in the panels last year,to be honest, not sure what the point of playing such a match this time of year. Not as if players will be getting a run out against actual county players.

looking at the amount of injuries over the last 2 years our lack of physical strength and poor fitness levels .Question , Is Colm Brady up to the job of training a county team .

I have asked that question, but nobody seems to be answering..I keep hearing that he is a "top fitness coach",you would have to wonder..

i agree.. time for another fitness/strength coach to have a try, bring new ideas as it seems to have gone very stale, and physically we dont seem to be up to the mark!!

Well considering they have already started there S&C program's there is no chance of a new S&C coach coming in this season. I do agree that this Meath team is not fit enough and are physically way off the pace compared to Mayo, Donegal, Dublin, Kerry etc. Also on a separate note 6 players have been dropped from the Meath Panel for the coming season. Paddy Gilsenan, Donal Lenihan and Bobby O'Brien are 3 of the 6 gone. I am unaware of the names of the other three and I don't want to guess so I won't try.

Really makes NO difference who is on or off the panel. Without ANY doubt this year ALL problems stemmed from poor management. Those major problems were 1..poor fitness levels 2...poor teamwork 3... lack of team spirit [from all bar 3 players ] 4....poor tactics....etc.etc. Worst of all... NO learning from mistakes as the year moved on
It would be hard to believe that we could expect a different result...FAILURE..for next year,if no remedial work has been done on this vital area. Maybe i am missing something.but does anyone know if this urgent matter is getting serious attention ? Surely any manager is worthy of assistance to avoid further embarasement. After all the County Board are ultimately responsible for ensuring lessons learned are acted upon.
We also know that the county is not overloaded with talented players right now. That IS a factor of course .It is not an excuse for poor management !!!!

Nobull would agree with that statement. And I have to say I too am worried. Gilsennan was a great prospect when he started but after injury never regained that initial prospect.
Who are the other 3 does anyone know??? And who can we expect in. I do think Colm should have been replaced , but that now seems unlikely and I can't see any change in backroom team. I'm afraid we will not be any different from this year . What then? Do we change management or buy into the 5 year thing mod said? Very worrying times with little hope I'm afraid.
Let's pray things go well.

To be fair to management,I agree with them in terms of the 3 lads being dropped..

The management will be given the year,if no improvements are made, they will be gone, but lets give them a chance to prove themselves..

The management team have been a disaster for the last two years. Are we any futher on from banty? I doubt it.
It would take some leap of faith to assume they will suddenly get it right this year.

In the last couple of years, we've being going through a long overdue spell of transition which seemed to interrupt proceedings a lot. I believe that this coming year should bring with it a little more stability. The 3 lads dropped were on the periphery of the panel so I wouldn't expect massive disruption in terms of team selection etc. I always thought that Bobby and Donal had great potential but maybe they were lacking in the workrate department which Micko doesn't appreciate as we know. Gilsenan's workrate could never be questioned however, but after breaking on to the panel a few years back, he never really developed as a player. This wasn't helped by injuries of course.

I do agree that this is a decisive year for this management team not only in terms of results but performance also. We can never get a decent run of consistent performances together which is very strange. Maybe players have issues with the management, who knows? If a few lads that got a run in those challenge matches were brought on to the panel even to provide competition for places it would be a good move. Some players this year seemed a little too sure of themselves. Lets remember aswell that the likes of Donegal, Mayo and even Dublin have based their team around the same core group of players for the last 4/5 years (an exception can be made for Kerry of course). For a county like us, we need to reach that level of consistency which I hope will be the case for 2015 and beyond.

Good addition to the back room team with Ciaran McDonagh, I think management are doing everything that people seem to be looking for in terms of additions on and off the field

Good to see that management are doing something about one of our problems, should help with fitness and conditioning. Now must sort out attitude and sprit of squad
