SFC final: Don/Ash V O Mahonys

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Former Poster Sean Curran, Cormac McGill and Eoin Reilly didn't see action in the quarter final so I'm assuming they were carrying injuries into the Na Fianna game and so Paul Clarke kept with the same fifteen. I'd expect Curran and Reilly to start the final.

In fairness this is probably the 2 best teams in the county over the past 3 years so it should be a good final. D/Ash have certainly flattered to deceive a bit but have a great chance now to bury a few demons and possibly start something real good for the club. They have a great panel of players and probably the team with the most potential in the county. O'Mahonys have looked shaky since the championship resumed but have ground out a few results while not at their best and will be hard to beat. Kevin Reilly is a big loss but Niall McKeigue is a great captain and he kept Cian Ward very quiet once again last Sunday and certainly quietened those who had been calling for Ward's return to the county panel. Hopefully we all will be treated to a good final and that the winners can get a run in the Leinster championship as its been a long time since Meath champions have been competitive in the provincial championship

I reckon Shane Melia should get a trial with the county team too..

Royal_rover I would totally disagree with you there omahonys yes have been there in and out the last few years but how are you rating ashbourne as 1 of the top 2 they have always falling when the business needed to be done didn't even get out of the group last year, they have had a good year so far and could win it but to be rating them as potential Leinster club contenders is a bit far fetehed to be honest going bits of semi final nowhere near that grade and don't think many clubs in Meath are

Agree with Header, don't see any Meath club capable of winning Leinster..

Have no affiliate to either club I just want the winners to do something in Leinster and after the shocker of two years against the Longford club that might mean best chance of a good Leinster campaign coming from don/ ash but I really don't care who wins once they represent the county with pride in the province.

I think if Ash win it(would be their first win since 42),they may not care so much about Leinster, however O'Mahonys might..

Best of luck to both teams, hopefully a good game and not too wet! I see the winners will have to travel to play either Louth (St. Pats) or Offaly (Rhode) in the Leinster on the 9th Nov.

Royal_Rover i find it laughable that you believe Don/Ash have been a top 2 side the past 3 years and this is their 1st senior final appearance in their history. They didnt even get out of the group last year. They have a lot of talent dont get me wrong but they have not been a top 2 side for the last 3 years. Also summerhill won 2 of the last 3 keegans so explain to me how NOM and Don/Ash have been the 2 best?

Well here we are the big day is nearly upon us and having been the most accurate predicter all year I have spent much time thinking about this one. Their is no doubt since The Daddies were beat my interest has waned a bit and believe me I take little solice from the fact I predicted that whoever beat them wood triumph.

OMahonys or Donaghmore/Ashbourne, Don/Ash or Navan who will win. My tauts always have been OMahonys are favourites until they are bet and so I stick to that Navan are indeed favourites. Don/Ash have done well they appear to have some steel than in recent times and are now 7 years at Senior, The time is right for them to take the next step.
It is like a new challenge for OMahonys at times in Leinster they were not up for new challenges, Kevin Reilly is a loss but They won a few years ago without him so that is a hurdle they can jump.
Again Duleek Don/Ash woke up in the 2nd half They game again Pats they where none too impressive and Na Fianna handed them the semi on the other hand OMahonys since the loss to Simonstown have done well not least in their good win over a Tones team that had put themselves in a winning posistion.

For me while I would like the new kids on the block to do it OMahonys may sneak it by a couple

I would have to agree with you(even though I am an Ash man),just think NOM have that little more experience, but Ash can win it without a doubt.

I couldnt care less who wins once its a great match. Was at the hurling, a one sided affair and not entertaining, bar the corner forward who hit ten points.
