Ash looked the better team throughout.Na Fianna only have themselves to blame for the red cards..I thought Menton was outstanding at midfield, scored 1-2 and lead by example. When the game was in the melting pot,Jamie Queeney didn't really rise it for Na Fianna, unlike Menton.

Ashbourne looked good, be it against a team with fewer players. I reckon the final will be a good contest, with Ashbourne to win it.

They were reds, the first especially. The guy was an a yellow and it was a very hugh tackle, however his first yellow was harsh, but making the tackle he knew he was on a yellow

The first yellow for the first dismissal was slightly harsh, the second was a stupid tackle to make when already booked, so they can't complain about that
Ref indicated that there was a stamp for the second one, if that's the case then it's a fair call
Great photo of Hannigan saving the penalty put up on hoganstands facebook.

Ziggy he was injured anyone who watch the match could tell that j.q was injured. How could you expect a lad who can barley walk on the day to step up and Ashbourne not great considering na fianna had the 2 lads sent off either side of half time ref was poor would not allow the game to flow. A number of times both team had an advantage and he pulled it back.

First let me say that I am not a Na Fianna supporter. All 3 sending offs were in my opinion wrong decisions. One of the yellow cards which caused the first expulsion was certainly not a yellow card offence and the second which was a straight red was for a push from behind which again is not a straight red offence. There was no way that 13 were going to defeat 15. All in all one of the worst whistled senior championship games that I have seen in a long time. . The game was played in a sporting enough manner with Menton playing better than I have seen him perform in a long time. The sub who came on for Ellis had a fine game and made the second goal with a 70m run.

The thing is with Menton,is that he knows he job when he plays for Ash,he has being playing midfield all year too.For Meath? Well he constantly moved all over the field, and like many of the Meath players, they don't seem to know what their role is.. He alongside Gillespie would be a very balanced midfield IMO.
Anyone watch the Junior Final? Great committment from both sides, and especially great character shown by Cortown.

Brownscows, you clearly had a poor view of the secon red card then.
I had a good angle on it, and the Na Fianna lad, Lewis I think, pushed the player in the back for the initial foul, but as he ran by him he blatantly stamped on the back of his leg.
Now while I accept you might not have seen that, you surely had to see the referee indicate, by using a foot motion, a stamp when he showed the red card.
There were six major calls in the game, all of which the ref got right by the way, three went against Na Fianna, three, the penalty, the disallowed goal and the black card after less than two minutes went against the winners.
The referee had no real bearing on the outcome, Na Fiannas lack of discipline however certainly did.

I agree with the message above. If anyone seen the incidents, they would agree that the sendings off were all correct. Two of them very very nasty too...
If I was one of the remaining Na Fianna players,I would be very angry with the players who got sent off.Lewis is an experienced player and really let the team down. The only red that was a little unlucky was the first red,as the yellow card he received(first yellow) was very harsh to say the least, however once he knows he is on a yellow, well, what was he thinking when he made that high tackle(with no danger),when he was on a yellow?? The other two reds, were very nasty..

I was at game yesterday and thought even before sending offs was a desperate game, while the sending offs might seem harsh na fainna's tackling was desperate and into days game you simply can't tackle like that, really thought Ashbourne looked poor even against a 13 man team gave the ball away needlessly and shooting very poor with little pressure on them

Lets be honest, very hard to play with that intent etc, when you are ahead and the opponent is down to 13 men.I said it at the time, that Ash will gain nothing from that..

Spot on. He wasn't at the races at all but the usual excuse brigade will be on to say otherwise.

Boynesideblue- My view was very good and there were 3 major decisions which were called incorrectly-the sending of 3 players from the one side. If someone falls in front of you it is easy to make contact and the contact was obviously minor as no injury occurred. I'm not so sure how you could say what was blatant or not and I would add that your opinion on the Ref certainly disagrees with the many folk(from different clubs) that I spoke with. On the issue of decisions making no difference on result! are you trying to tell me that 13 can compete with 15. Anyway none of this is Don/Ash fault and on the day the looked the better side.

Ziggy, Menton has played most of his underage football in midfield and centre forward, positions where he should be utilised with the county

Well done to Ashbourne hope they go all the way very exciting team but really the game was over after Lewis sent off! Thought Daniel Queeney kicked some excellent scores and McDonagh worked his socks off! Apart from that na fianna offered nothing in what was a poor game ! Regarding Jamie Queeney it's not a excuse he hadn't trained since the quater final because of injury and anyway the form Bryan menton was in no player in the county would have stopped him. Menton if I do remember was very poor in their pervious meeting and people on here were saying he's not a midfielder - don't judge players on 1 game !!!

I honestly think Menton's form last year has a lot to do with him being moved around far too often, will prob end up playing full back for the county this year.
