Cian Ward

He is defiantly worth a place on next years extended panel, give him a chance and if he steps up to required level in terms of fitness and commitment, few could argue his class. But not so sure he would be interested

He is if he wants to be! But you need committed players, you cannot want committed players and then want the likes of him back!

HUGE difference between S.Bray and Ward when it comes to attitude. If Ward had his attitude,he would have being a star for Meath

We all know Cian Ward is a technically gifted forward but his attitude and motivation have never been great, he had something like 7 seasons in a Meath jersey to prove himself but never consistently did it. So I'm not sure of the benefits of bringing him back, I think moving on is always for the best, to quote Einstein (I think), the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Funny thing is Ward scores 1-9 in a club game and everyone goes mental, but Joe Sheridan has actually being more consistent all year, should we take him back too?...

Ziggy, where do you get your nonsense from? How has Joe Sheridan been more consistent? Do you have any facts or figures to back that up? Ward has hitting high scores in nearly all his games this year. Sheridan has played well this year no doubt but I dont know how you can say he has been better than Ward.

Micko looked at our results over the past 10 years and decided that we needed to change things up. The fact was we were not going to win much with Wardy, Joe, Peadar and Farrell. Regardless whether they are better than what replaced them he decided a change was the only option. He knew the result of keeping them and didnt know the result of changing things up.
I would suggest we would have been better off with some or all of those 4, but better off is still losing Leinster and maybe getting to an all ireland quarter or semi. He had ambitions above that and took a gamble. The gamble hasnt paid off in my view but Micko could argue that he's not finished yet. The lads coming through are average at best.

'lads coming through are average at best'

you have a very negative outlook on meath football so....
are we wrong to be optimistic with the likes of the wallaces, o'sullivan, harnan, mcmahon, rowe coming through??

All 21 and younger and you have them written off already. good man

It is interesting how some folk think a poster is negative when he/she says what he/she believes and does not agree with certain opinions.

Average county footballers. I think thats fair. Rowe apart the others have had a year or 2 at that level and certainly havent shown more than that.

The others have had a year or too?

Eamonn Wallace has had one year(and did well),O'Sullivan hasn't had a year yet,and he is being written off!

Goalswingames , are you at the races at all?
wallaces, o'sullivan, harnan, mcmahon, rowe

The older Wallace was one of our better players last year
His brother was only added to the panel at the start of this years championship
O Sullivan has been injured , McMahon is has just finished his first full year
with the team and had a decent year
Harnan is only in his second year and is doing well

browncows - everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I think its disgraceful to scapegoat the lads who have just joined the panel though in the last year or two.

Do people think that at 20/21 they should have peaked??? I am not sure if you are trying to wind me up or if its a case of you not actually understanding the typical development of players.
id love to know the alternative....oh wait, youre probably part of the 'cian ward/peader byrne/joe/Farrell brigade' ...sure while we're at it give Ollie, Trevor, GG, Tommy Dowd, McManus and John McDermott a shout...

Can u all stop with the nonsense.I know 100% he will not be back as he does not fit in any of their plans. Its more important to get cillian, eammon connor, davy back to full fitness. What about mark o Sullivan scoring 10 points for moynalvey-hellooooo.Anyway before Dublin game everyone was happy ,Lets get all back healthy and get promoted and progress in championship next year..Lets be positive...FORWARDS NEXT YEAR TO PICK FROM-OROURKE,MCMAHON,2 OSULLIVANS,2 WALLACES,BRAYSER,NEWMAN,TORMEY,BIGGY,ROWE,CARROLL,-THATS 12 DECENT FORWARDS WITH SHANE AT 14 TO BUILD AROUND..PROPER SYSTEMS AND POSITIONS IS WHATS NEEDED AND GAME PLAN FOR FORWARDS..MY STARTING 6 WOULD BE.BIGGY,NEWMAN,CILLIAN,OROURKE,E WALLACE,CARROLL,

How old is Cian Ward? He destroyed Louth nearly by himself in Breffini in 2011. Was it him that took the frees against Louth in the Leinster final in 2010?

I think many are reading too much into Eamonn Wallace last year. He had one great game v Tyrone but lets face it, he was average in the rest. Yes great potential and will take a few years to build into proper footballer.

Average at best in the other games? Thought he had a good game v Dublin and Wexford.
