Brian Agree Kevin Reilly and Donal Keoghan yes they show pride in wearing the jersey!! This year though Stephen Bray showed class as well as a giving his best. After those 3 serious questions have to asked .

Fair point nobull and Stephen's omission was not a slur on him, i genuinely forgt him.

Unfortunately i think he might retire now. He owes nothing to the jersey or the county.

I don't think we can all agree that Kev,Brayer and Keoghan give it their all.Funny thing is,people were calling for Brayer to be dropped at the start of the year, and some of the same people want players with the right attitude and character, funny eh?

Bray had 1 great game v Kildare , his work rate was very high for both Armagh & Dublin and that's it , so no I wouldnt consider bray a bench mark to work from .

Maybe going off the real issue at this point.. Not so much the individuals who played well or not.The REAL issue is MANAGEMENT or lack of it ! Forget about personalities, and WHO is managing! WHAT is being done or NOT being done by management IS the issue! Lack of fitness, teamwork, spirit etc.
THAT is what has to asked and answered by the CB..Let us call a spade a spade that points the finger at MOD. That is NOT saying he has to go !! He would have to accept that the team are going nowhere!.He cannot continue doing the same thing, and expect a different outcome ! We know he is inexperienced at this level, but he can learn like even the great BOYLAN did. Like anything else he has to reflect, modify approach or whatever. The CB have a major role now. MOD will have to be told the facts. Challenged, and asked what he plans to do,and what help he needs now. THAT is where we are now. Individual players ,and how they performed this year is history, and of no value . Good management from here will take care of that for the future team selection. Our one plus is the younger players who could be brought to a higher standard by a manager who reflects seriously, asks for assistance if required. ALL these things CAN be done by a CB that will grasp the nettle..Let us hope for the good of Meath football they do!!

Yeah bray did very well in championship. But was very poor in league. I guess sometimes its horses for courses. You play the team that has the players equipped to beat opposition, Bray was excellent against Kildare with open space but was smothered out against armagh and only when Graham Reilly came on kicking perhaps some oft the best scores we scored this year did we look competitive. Armagh game was perfect example where someone like ward or even sherridan would have been perfect to bring on when we needed a goal ala donaghy last Sunday. Bringing on Joey was never going to make a difference against that type of set up. It really is about setting your team up to beat the opposition. If that means fast paced lads great if it means traditional work horse with little pace but it they hit you it feels like a JCB then so be it. But having no one starting in position to kick long range points against armagh was naive.
We must learn from this and have different types of players in the panel for different types of opponents, we don't have the talent of Dublin but set up a team correctly and we can compete with most other counties.
As for pride? I don't know but from my perspective that has to be management job to have them as wound up as a grayhound in the traps when the hare passes.

In the last couple of years it was said MEATH have a "DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL" in position. Anybody know [1] Name of the individual ? [2] What are the duties and responsibilities of the position?? [ 3 ] Does that person have direct input into matters related to the current difficulties with lack of progress of senior team [4] Has the director given a recent status report? [5] How active is the director?

Indeed he did Ziggy. But it was a fruitless exercise. Hence why we needed different approach maybe that was a game to use him as a sub? Seen Stephen come on with 20 to go would have rattled armagh lads s lot more than joey. And I want to make one point very clear, joey Wallace WILL be a great player for Meath in years to come and I am just using him as a example to make a point. And that point is we are too limited in the type of game we can play. That must change going forward
This is the point . We have to have players that can adapt to different styles or set type of players we can rotate as needed.

I think this year was far too early for Joey.

Another point,is that apparently Colm Brady is an excellent trainer,if so,why is to team not looking fit?

I'd say at the very least a new training regime will be insisted upon.

Joeshow

That would be a major boost..

On another note, just watching Mayo and the desire and committment they show(even if not playing great),I would suggest the players in this county to watch and learn

Really hope the CB take note also. Hope they tell MOD that is the desire we need. If he can not see that himself anyway, we can forget it. Maybe if all concerned don't see the difference, maybe we should just put more of our scarce resources into hurling
