OK glass who is willing to stump up 75k per year if that is what way it was going to be.
Also what club or member would be alienated by accepting a donation? It was money for nothing. Will these members be so kind to pay extra if as expected these turbines go ahead regardless?? Who is the big looser then only Meath gas.

RD, a few smaller sponsors would easily cover this amount if the CB were more proactive amd imaginative.

I suggest you read this for a start.

"He confirmed that the sponsorship offer for the centre of excellence was dependent on the project going ahead".

So in reality, EP looked for Meath GAA to effectively endorse their project in advance as a public relations exercise and no doubt to help with their planning application. EP were in effect trying to court GAA support in the community/area but with strings attached (auction politics of sorts). They were trying to use the high profile/goodwill of Meath GAA for their own pr campaign (and not just buy advertising space at PT with money up front and no product endorsement, like any normal sponsor). If the project fails to materialise, Meath GAA would have been used by a commercial entity and over a political issue for nothing. If it goes ahead they may have gotten money over time but what would it say about their values or principles (money/profit before people/communities). The right decision was made in the end by the CB but it took some grassroot members/clubs to make them see the light.

Fair play to the delegates for turning down this deal. Another example of big business trying to bully its way around. Well done to the ordinary club people for standing up.

Heard from well known delegate that it was taken of the agenda as clear that clubs would overwhelmingly reject it. County Board wanted it

Good call to reject this divisive offer, not worth hassle it would have caused, had potential to cause a big split in Meath GAA. Was within a few hundred meters of one last week, about 100/120 meters high. Noise can depend on wind direction (but defiantly is noise) and worse still can be the shadow effect. Personally I would not like to live anywhere near them.
