Best Young Talents NOT In The Current Senior Squad

ziggy320001, Just want to point out that Rooney and Flanagan are the same age. Not sure how it could be too soon for one and not the other, especially considering Flanagan is the one with more experience at all levels of inter county football.

That said, I dont think a Gillespie-Flanagan/Rooney combination would be ideal. They are all great players but all of the same mould, we need more of a runner to partner the bigger players.

I take your point,i thought Rooney was older, but I was more talking about Rooney being given a run in O'Byrne cup games etc.Ideally I would like to see a Menton type with Gillespie, but as RD said,he may well go to Full back now..

is Jamie queeney back on the panel ( I echo Meathgaa's question)

He lords it at midfield for na fianna, and seems to have the legs to counter the other less mobile guys..

yep heard it too ,queeney is back and im delighted MOD has the guts to back track on his previous decision ,especially with meade and harro gone ,theirs not too many lads left that the young boys can look to.

Menton is the only obvious replacement for Reilly at fb, can't see him moving to MF. I'd say Flanagan is probably too young but we have no choice but to play him there.
I read something there is only 4 players who played in Leinster final of 10 still on team. That is some drop off in 4 years. I presume its the 2 O'Rourke and Graham Reilly and steohen bray. Now obviusly kev too but he is injured
Was Gillespie not on the panel that day? Always thought he was.

Queeney is no better than what we have and does not have the legs for midfield at Inter-County level

Good news if its true Queeney called back, makes an impact and obviously proud to play for his County if he's going in after MOD dropped him before. Going to be a tough start to the year without Reilly and Gillepie eitherway.

From the starting team in 2010, K. Reilly, G. Reilly, Bray and O'Rourke are still around.
From the panel that day, Gillespie,Menton,Queeney and I presume Davy Dalton are still around.
Paddy O'Rourke is also around but was suspended Vs. Louth.

Jamie is a great addition but would love to see him slot in it at 11 instead of midfield a lot more direct and stronger than Brian mc Mahon also think ward should be back on panel only for him Wolfe tones would not have been in the semi final and Downey off na fianna should be on panel these are all lads who will scare Dublin defenders defence wise Shane melia must be called in

didn't want to make a new thread on young talent so i'll post this here. we have a great asset in pats of navan one of the best schools for football in the country. hopefully they go far again this year but a lot of top class players have come through there and they just fall away once they go to college. Meath GAA should be getting them scholarships in colleges mainly in dublin. SOme other counties do it to great success. Roscommon and Dublin are two examples.
