Bigjoe - He is in deed a very good defender and possible should be in squad-however I would say that the best defenders in the county final were on the NOM team. I do think that defenders who can defend need to be added. Did you see many of the senior championship matches? Furthermore it is more difficult to play well in senior football than junior or intermediate and in the county final most of the county players went missing in the second half except for SB. Meade will be a loss as he was always a good worker and you need more consistent players with a good work rate to win matches.

RP. that makes sense. Ziggy he was voted Meath poty 13 and was out injured for most of last year. Its a bit unfair to say he wasn't performing considering all of that

Ziggy can't see Curran coming back under micko. Too much water under bridge etc.

I also think his workrate for Meath was overrated. It is no good running around the pitch pointlessly, you gotta to use workrate in the right areas.

Sorry I meant workrate for Meade...

We need more athletic players in midfield..

Forde is a big game player. Looking forward to seeing him on panel next year

Forde is a good player, but more importantly he works very hard, gets forward when needed and gets back intelligently.

I heard Alan forde has to have an operation on his knee as soon as omahonys season is over which would rule him out for at least the start of the league.

Brian Meade will be a loss for the panel but not for the starting team. A hard worker he may be but you need more than that at senior inter county. We need a big athletic midfielder who can field a high ball but can also run all day or at least run fast. We've had too many big lads in the middle who cant run. Any midfielder in the county who has all these attributes? Fielding, long passing, speed, and stamina? Badly needed!

As good as Gillespie and Flanagan would be in the middle i think it would be a bad idea to have. In basic form the perfect midfield partnership would be a Gillespie/Flanagan type player with a hard working athletic type midfielder who can also compete in the air. I know i wouldnt want either of them trying to chase after MDMA in Croke Park.Especially if we're trying to promote a faster style of play.

In Gillespie, you have that sheer size and power. A great man in the air and pretty mobile as well. Flanagan covered a massive amount of ground against Armagh in his first full championship debut. I think he was the 3rd most man on the ball for Meath in that game. He is brilliant in the air and hits laser guided passes.A pure athlete. I think he is the perfect partner for Gillespie. Harry Rooney also worth thinking about as a panel member as he is a very hard working and strong mid fielder.

spot on,I have being saying this for a while,Gillespie is the best big man we have for midfield and can get round the field, but playing the likes of Flanagan,SOR,Meade etc is not a good idea if we want to progress..

A bit early for Flanagan to be a starter,I would consider Rooney alright,Menton could be a good partner for Gillespie..

Cannot see Menton as a midfield option, most lightly full back for next year, give Flanagan extended run in O Byrne cup and league to see how he shapes up Need a really committed and athletic player to complement Gillespie.

Is Flanagan that player though? Or is he a raw Gillespie type?

Menton is the only obvious replacement for Reilly at fb, can't see him moving to MF. I'd say Flanagan is probably too young but we have no choice but to play him there.
I read something there is only 4 players who played in Leinster final of 10 still on team. That is some drop off in 4 years. I presume its the 2 O'Rourke and Graham Reilly and steohen bray. Now obviusly kev too but he is injured
Was Gillespie not on the panel that day? Always thought he was.
