Exactly, look when we beat Dublin by 11 points, you could ask similar questions..What was their gameplan? They looked very naive etc but had a lot of new players,we are in a similar boat I believe..They could easily have sacked Gilroy after a fair few hammerings, but eventually they won the All-Ireland.Whether we have good enough players coming through to do that is up for debate, but I wouldn't see any obvious managers that would do better, and as I said(many times),we bring in a new manager, who has to start again and be behind O'Dowd in the learning department..

I would be in favour of giving MOD at least another 2 years to build 'his team' regardless of Saturdays result. My biggest disappointment this year is that they did not have a settled team going into the championship after the league campaign. Too many players have been playing in a number of different positions throughout the year. In fairness the injuries have not helped but we need a settled team and only then can we develop a game plan that the players are comfortable with.

. I think if clarke get's decent ball it could be a long day for some of our defenders, hopefully keoghan will mark him . Meade has to start as well with O'rourke in centre field, my view is we should be well able to match Armagh , they didn't play great against Roscommon, and hopefully with Newman and Bray up front we will put up a decent score. Trust me lads Meath aren't finished yet and have a lot to prove , it's different this time to years gone by where we didn't actually show up in the leinster final, and these lads will have a point to prove to themselves and the management. We have made good progress this year i think some need to remember how good Dublin actually are. That said i hope we progress and i have every faith we will.

without question Mod stays for next year as per contract regardless of results.it took me a few days to get over the LF.i was i suppose bitterly disappointed with the way in which management dealt with the whole 70 mins.I ,like a few of the lads on here traveled the country ,watching MOD progress and sometimes regress ,but everything was aimed at the LF. i do believe there is a savage amount of learning to be done by o dowd ,remember this is his first "big Gig" and this is why i will give him his contract term,i guess its sink or swim over the next year, but i feel there is more to this story .

Ye all are reading too much into the Dublin defeat, it's obvious what Mick was up to, put up no fight against the dubs and roll over in the Leinster final and when he gets them again in the all Ireland semi, catch the dubs off guard and give them a real game when they are least expecting it.!!!
The Leinster final display was really poor so hopefully Mick and the players will be much better prepared and have a greater hunger versus Armagh and guys who were so disappointing the last day will redeem themselves.
Up da Royals.

Htaem agree. It will take time. No one is saying mistakes have not been made. But once they learned from and rectified , this subject does not arrive. I personally think it will take another two years to see where we at.

Armagh are very beatable. The lads need to be positive and believe they are better than whats in front of them, I know I do. Get everyone in their best positions and have a go from the start, and keep it going. Armagh will not be as ultra defensive as in previous games as they will have seen what Dublin did when they pressed up the field on Meath. Get them going backwards in the first 15mins, patience will and discipline will be vital. Meath by 5+

Good team MM. It got very congested at times last year when we attacked Tyrone and space will be ever more limited vs. Armagh. They need to get accurate ball into the forwards good and early, especially on the counter attack. Otherwise if a slow build up we will have to resort to taking longer range points. So SOR, Brian Meade, Graham Reilly and Andrew Tormey will need to bring their shooting boots!

Can see us winning with a few to spare. It will be tough game but if we play guys in right positions and they up their game I can't see us been beat.

Weather is supposed to be bad which will suit Armaghs style, but it is important that the likes of Tormey,G.Reilly and SOR get forward and support,to hit points from distance.

I would take beating Armagh, even if we lose to Donegal, team need to show they have the character by beating the Orchard.

Yeah late team announcement, todays papers say Meath have a full panel to pick from, no new injuries, so must be tactical, has MoD a few surprise in store?

I think Mick O' Dowd needs to adopt a defensive style of play for Saturday.

If we do manage to win, we will have to play defensive against Donegal or face another mauling and then the Dubs await in the semi after that, and we know what happened when we tried to go toe to toe with them the last day.

So we have nothing to loose and I would rather see us loose adopting a different style, than scrape a win using the old style and end up getting whacked again in the next match.
